Not much. Pretty much what I feared, I got it driving and haven't got anything else done to it other than drive it. Lol.

But winter will be rolling in quick so I will be getting something done to it soon. Primarily getting the front axle shafts in it.

  • is that a GC front end on a GD body?

  • Well the really heavy angle iron peice is what the t-case mounts are attached to. I reinforced all the unibody around where it is welded to and now all the new floor material is welded to it and both

  • If you add a belly pan? Thats one thing that always bugged me about my Roo's, hanging exhaust.....DOH!!!!

How does it drive on road, power and handling? And do you think you could tell us a rough estimate for price of materials you used?

It's pretty well behaved on road. It takes some getting use to with no sway bars and all but once you get comfortable with it I can honestly say it feels much safer than most straight axle vehicles.

As for power it has plenty. The only problem is the EGT,s climb up into the 1600 range if you don't go easy on the throttle like maintaining 80mph up the hills on the highway. A non intercooled 2.2 running 11psi is not the ideal choice of engine for rolling big tires. I think there is an EZ30 swap in it's near future.

Oh, and as far as material prices go, it's very hard to estimate as most of it was just metal scraps from around the shop. The owner use to buy the scraps from metal suppliers and there was a good selection of left overs.......at least there use to be. Lol.

So how would the power be with something non turbo like a EJ22 or 25?

Well when the wagon had the stock EJ22 it was a dog. The frankenmotor 2.5/2.2heads was a huge improvement. I imagine a regular 2.5 would also be decent.

What happened to all the pics? I found one of things I was looking for at the beginning of the thread but I wanted to look at the rest.

He probably reorganized his uploads on photobucket into new albums.  Screws up all the linking.

So if you don't put your pics in an "album" when you first upload them and link to them, then just leave them there in your general "library" .  If you put them in an album later it changes the linked location.
