July 11, 201213 yr Author gotta pull the transmission on sunday. Clutch is slipping something fierce. I think I put the wrong step on the flywheel for the XT6 pressure plate... Apart from that it seems to run and drive pretty well
July 14, 201213 yr Author Pulled the flywheel back out tonight, going to regrind it tomorrow. Also going to split the trans and change the front seal as it seems to be leaking like an absolute bastard.
July 17, 201213 yr Author Took 100 thou (!!!) off the flywheel, clutch behaves properly now, replaced the front seal too. no more leaky! Things are looking up! Nico: Yep, this is me!
July 19, 201213 yr Nico: Yep, this is me! holy crap man how you been ? its been so long since i heard or talk to you i hope everything is going well !! and your brat is looking good nice work you done on it so far !!

August 3, 201213 yr Author Thanks I've got an idea for my parking brake now that I'm beginning to flesh out Basically I think I'll machine a 'rotor' to go between the driveshaft and rear diff pinion flange, and use a small rear brake caliper with built in parking brake and run the cable up to a parking brake handle. I'll build a bracket for the caliper off the forward diff mount bolts so the caliper moves with the diff. I don't think it'd be strong enough to abuse for doing handbrake turns and stuff, but should be just the ticket for parking on hills.

August 8, 201213 yr Author I don't have an ebrake right now at all EDIT: Oh I get what you're saying. No, I don't trust hydraulic to keep my car parked. One tiny leak and you'll lose pressure and your car will leave.
August 8, 201213 yr this sounds like what would happen to yours, my friend had 1980 toyota corvette yellow he had where it was lifted and was running dana 44's on it and he parked next to a cliff with no guard rail where he worked at and he forgot to put the piece of wood in front of the front tires then one thing led to another he had to rebuild for a second time after rolling down a ciff
August 8, 201213 yr Author Pinion parking brakes are pretty common. They just don't make one for the r160. http://tsmmfg.com/Pinion_Mounted_Parking_Brakes.htm
August 28, 201213 yr Author Brats been on hold for a bit while I was getting the impreza ready for WCSS14, now back on the main burner... Got the stock oil pressure sensor into the EJ block with a bit of machining today. Over the next few weeks I'll be putting together a hitch bumper for the rear, a pitch stop, the pinion park brake and hooking up the leftover sensors for the EJ swap. If I get time I'll also be repairing and bedlining the bed. Want to have everything working properly by october to be ready for the winter. Edited August 28, 201213 yr by Splinter
August 28, 201213 yr Author I've already got Journals for my Impreza on rs25.com and nasioc.com... I may put up a post about it but 3 journals is getting a little excessive
August 28, 201213 yr Author That I can do http://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t102180-steel-widebody.html http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1655704 The nasioc one is a little more complete I think
August 28, 201213 yr Sweet. I have heard a bit about it in the past, but it'll be cool to see the whole story!
September 11, 201213 yr Author My pinion brake idea isn't going to work, not enough clearance between the snout of the diff and the torsion bar :/
September 13, 201213 yr Author anyone have any other ideas for a parking brake other than rear disc conversion?
