Pretty sure my baby has a knocking rod. painful sound everytime she turns over! How can I tell for sure? (Im 90% sure) Any links to good discriptions?

Are you sure the firing order and timing are right? Is the knock sensor plugged in?

The firing order is correct, and it is hard to start at any timing setting (Dad and I tried a bunch). Not sure about the knock sensor, but I am sure the engine wouldn't run this bad with it unplugged, but I dont think I ever unplugged it.

Have you pulled the disty in the past? Almost sounds like its 180deg out.

A knocking rod won't make it run bad. It just makes noise until it breaks. My rx started knocking and it will fire right up and run just as good as before.

Sometimes an exhaust leak can sound like a rod knock... something to look for anyway.

Exhaust leaks on my car sound more like lifter tap.

Another thing. A loose timing belt will make a knock like sound.

Its a EA81T. There is no timing belts.

I know the disty is on, but I'm pulling the engine and having it rebuilt to be same. It'll be a moster motor for WCSS6!
