So now I know a bit about Subarus. What Subaru would give the most power and have the best transmission/transer case/ rear differential of the Pre Impreza/Legacy cars. Oh yeah, the least cost. My buddy can buy cars from the Insurance Co, so there is a lot to choose from.

my vote would be 81-84 4x4w/hi/lo ,there tough, cheap to keep going and just so cool. right!! todd

yea I'd go with EA81s

No timing belts to break.

 

I do know of tons of people with 250,000 + miles on EA82s, but timing belts and oil pumps are the weak spot on them.

 

 

Just make sure its a 5 speed D/R 4wd what ever way you go.

You will be saving yourself work in the future

i've had my first EA81 car for almost 2 weeks now and i'm already in love with it. this is after 4 EA82 cars, 3 if you don't count the RX i bought just to part out.

 

the engine bays are less cramped, there's no timing belts to worry about, you can still find parts fairly easy at the JY, and you can modify them for offroad use just as easily as an EA82 and with greater return on the effort on the 2 door hatch.

I'm content to wait a while to fix my wagon

ea81s are my favorite, after a few ea82 cars. you cant go wrong with a brat or a hatch. but for pure luxury(power steering, power locks, windows, everything) ea82 cars are nice.

One word - Brat. But then, I'm biased.
