April 10, 201114 yr Author A key note: PO did most of his driving on cobblestone streets. I drove on a few when I picked it up that day in Orlando. Felt like driving across the moon's craters.
April 13, 201114 yr Author Went to the dragon this weekend: (Yes, I know I stole the proofs) A purchase was made.
May 22, 201213 yr Author Had a wing stud that had snapped off from when I had gotten the trunk and finally got around to replacing it. Pictures from my dirty car, half-assed, nasty day, photoshoot. Pictures taken with my Galaxy Nexus. http://www.mysubie.com/gallery?id=2653 The problem that I ran into with my stud repair was the STi trunk has two different studs. One is longer than the other. I ordered the wrong one by accident, my fault. Luckily I ordered two of them because they are notorious for snapping off, a second one snapped off in removal. Got the wing off and tried to fit the shorter stud into the grooves on the wing, wasn't happening. So, I sat there for about ten minutes and then I compared the slide bases and found the one was only slightly narrower and thinner than the other. So, off to the shed I went to get my file that I had not used in about 2.5 years from when I installed rear WRX seats in my RS. 2 minutes of filing each and they were both able to slide into place and click. I went to get back into the trunk with the wing off and forgot about how much tension the STI torsion bars have. That thing flung up and about hit me in the face.
May 22, 201213 yr Author There also has since been a suspension change. I took the Tanabe GF210 springs off last August and put the stock springs back on. The ride improved greatly with the stock springs and a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
May 22, 201213 yr Glad you went back to the wing...it makes the look. Love the color! --- J. Sadler Youth ministry
May 22, 201213 yr Shes a beauty. Where did the STI front lip go? This fellow's car never had it since he owned it, as it appears. Only picture I see of a blue with one of the chins is the guy he bought the trunk lid from.... EDIT: I stand corrected. Went all the way back to the start of the thread and there it is. I dunno either.
May 23, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the love, guys. I took the JDM STi lip off a few days after I bought the car. The roads here and parking lots suck so I did not want to risk it. It is still in the shed. I have this now:
June 22, 201213 yr Damn, didn't realize this had such low miles!! Mine is over 113k now. Still going strong though!
June 22, 201213 yr Author It had 69k on it when I bought it November 2010. Not really put too many miles on her.
June 25, 201213 yr mine's just over 80k now as well i don't drive it in the winter have beaters for that lol
July 23, 201213 yr Oooh shiny! I really need to do this to mine, seems like time is so hard to come by though! But it looks great man, nice job.
July 23, 201213 yr Author Thanks Jason. I know what you mean. I been fighting to find time to clean it for a month.
August 12, 201213 yr Author Got the axleback painted with VHT flameproof. Did about 3 coats, let's hope they hold up. I got done right with the thunder rolling in the not so distance. Windex on the kartboy hangers made this job so much easier. Before: No, I am not wingless. That was just for an hour while I replaced some studs a few months ago on the trunk.
August 12, 201213 yr Very nice! I have actually considered doing this to mine too. What prep did you have to do for it to stick? And yeah, aren't those Kartboy hangers great?! Edited August 12, 201213 yr by bratman18
August 12, 201213 yr Author Roughed it up after cleaning with a red scuff pad after cleaning. It's a pretty easy project, aside from the hangers.
August 23, 201213 yr Author Thanks to Bratman for the 07 STi center caps. I love 'em I also added Centric high carbon rotors.
