January 22, 201115 yr hey guys my dad is trying to fix my 1997 Legacy Outback 2.5 4.cyl automatic transmission.. the oil separator broke & the Rear oil seal and its leaking like crazy we are trying to buy the oil separator and the rear oil seal but we can`t find it anywheres i looked in autozone but no luck can anyone provide me a link where i can buy one thank you
January 22, 201115 yr Separator plate is only available from a dealer as far as I know. This site http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_partdetail.php?partid=11564 has all the part numbers you'll need, but your local dealer should know the drill. Very common replacement item on EJ series engines. Rear main is probably not leaking.
January 22, 201115 yr Go with a dealer. They give you the metal separator plate, which doesnt crack..
January 22, 201115 yr Rear main 99.9% of the time never leaks, do not mess with it, you will be sorry and get very good at pulling the engine.

January 23, 201115 yr I think Walker carried it for $25 or so. But you'll need the attach bolts too for a couple bucks. I sealed mine with Permatex "The RightStuff" sealant.
January 23, 201115 yr I rather get the Subaru plate still.. matter of fact mine is still in my closet until spring rolls around.
