February 26, 201115 yr A few weeks ago I was ready to junk my 98 OBW after blowing it's second head gasket. Folks here suggested a swap. Thanks for the advice, but I have to give special recognition to GeneralDisorder (Rick Cropper) for taking the extra time to hunt down the donor and parts, and for doing all the work. The best part was that he was able to do the switch in a single day saving me money and a big headache. Plus, the man certainly knows what he's doing. A true professional! Great experience! Thanks Rick. The car is running very well.
February 26, 201115 yr Great to hear another Subaru is back on the road. It's nice when you get someone that knows what they are doing and does great work.
February 26, 201115 yr Awesome. You'll be happy with it. I've never had a single complaint about the ones I've done, they should have built them like that. I crank these swaps out like a factory, I probably have close to 100 of them running around here on the east coast, I lost track of how many I've done after 50 or so. My buddy and I did one in an hour and fifteen minutes once.
February 27, 201115 yr Excelent! I'm really happy I was able to get you on the road quickly and efficiently. It worked out exactly as planned. For anyone else in the area interested in this conversion - we came in at just about $1100 including used 160k engine with warantee, seals/gaskets/timing belt/water pump/plugs/etc, and labor. GD
February 27, 201115 yr That's about what I get as well to do a 2.2 swap as well. About $1000-1100. We're 2000 miles apart, so no competition for business.
February 28, 201115 yr Love to hear success stories like this. I have both a 98 and 99 OBWs that may need to go this route some day. Where do you find 2.2s in good condition? I live in Indy.
