Tool for removing connecting rod pins?

Featured Replies

Any advice on how to make a tool or where to purchase a tool to remove a couple of stubborn connecting rod pins on an EA82.

Best tool for that job would probably be a V8 hydraulic lifter puller, the slide hammer style ones where you twist the handle and they expand one end to lock in,quite common and fairly cheap for a special tool as pushrod V8 dino's are so common.

That's a great idea, I wonder if it would work? I just did this again on another EA81 with a ground down battery J-Hook bolt. It sure would be easier with the right tool. I think it's a Lisle 13750.

Concrete expansion bolt. Skinny one to fit inside the wrist pin. Turn nut to expand and pull on it with visegrips.acc210.jpg

I've always gently used a slide hammer with an appropriately sized hook attachment on the end. Works a treat!

All the best.

Cheers
