Ebrake conversion from front to rear?

Featured Replies

Is this possible? I've been thinking about this every time I pull my ebrake. I remember the first time I tried to slide the brat and realized the ebrake was pulling the front brakes and I was like wtf?

If you search ebrake you'll find some write ups I believe you need the calipers from the rear of a Nissan 240 sx not sure on the year.. But since my wagon has rear disks already I'm going to add a hydro lock up for the rear. Should be pretty easy

It been covered a lot.

But more recent it's been discovered that calipers from the mid 80's accords work.

Mid 80s Accord calipers supposedly work, but they're like $80 each. Probably better off getting 200sx or 240sx calipers and making a custom bracket that allows for better clearance of the ebrake mechanism.

calipers are cheaper @ pnp. also accords are way more frequent than 240s. locally at least. ya ya, used parts i know. rebuild?

Agreed, Accords are way more frequent because not everyone wants them to make "drift cars" out of them :-\. caliper rebuild kits can be had at a good local parts store or brake supply store for usually around $5 each side for a single piston caliper. I think I paid $5.40+ tax for the front kit I put on mu loyale.

Ben

really? mid 80s accord calipers will work on the rear?

no mods for brake line or mounting?

I'm doing a 5 lug swap on my 86 Brat. I have the rear hub assemblies(including backing plates) from an xt6. I'm trying to find out what caliper I can use that has an ebrake. I've read about people using the 200sx calipers mixed with the caliper bracket from an ea82t but will that work on the xt6 backing plates?
