trading 92 subaru wagon for 83 sedan

Featured Replies

was just wonding what ya'll opinion is on trading an newer subaru for an old mint condition on.. i found on craigslist again a 1983 subaru and the guy is considering a trade for my 92 wagon 4x4. what are some opinions, are the older engines better or worse things i should look at.

on the old ea81s, make sure you look at the cross sections from the unibody to the rockers for rust. seems thats where they start to rot usually. theyre located under the driver/passenger floorboard area. otherwise i would take a good running clean 83 sedan over a 92 wagon any day of the week!! the ea81s are pretty much bullet proof, and IMO more reliable than any newer subaru with the exception of the 2.2l engines. if the 92 is a loyale with the 1.8l spfi the 83 will be more reliable. if its a 92 legacy 2.2l, then both are good engines and pretty much bullet proof.. so it depends on what you like better... the sedan or the wagon.

Totally depends on what YOU want, what you can do, and what shape they are in. If the EA81 is REALLY what you want but it's full of rust then you may want to pass. Run some water in to the grill under the windshield and see if the inside gets wet. Look VERY carefully, If it looks good and you like it then go for it IMHO:clap:

I Believe that the Whole situation depends on What you Need for Transportation...

If you Carry a Lot of Things, Stay with the Wagon.

I you only want Transportation for You, you can Get the Older one if you Really Preffer it.

Why don't you Keep the Wagon and buy the Older one... Too Expensive?

I Preffer Wagons due to their Extended Capabilities to Haul Things & People easily, even on Long Travels.

There are other Factors to Consider: Rust, if the Older one is Bone Stock or has any Modifications or Extras... If your Wagon has certain issues or things that you Dislike...

Do you have Pics of Both?

Kind Regards.
