April 3, 201213 yr I bought this wagon a year ago for $300 with 53,000 miles on it. Its a fwd auto with power mirrors and windows that all work:banana:. I don't have any good stock pictures. I then lowered it about 2-3". I got tired of not being able to use any of my wheels so I decided to redrill the hubs to 4x100. Also added a GLH body kit I had, but covered up the H on the side. Found this at a junkyard which was very hard in Indiana. Borrowed some wheels for a day and added a roof rack off a Ford Escape. Bought some new wheels. Custom high flow aircleaner
April 4, 201213 yr I remember when you first posted about this car, Looks like it came a long way! Looks really good, props to you bro Like that Grill retro fit and the 4x100 conversion Cross bars from a Ford Escape really fit on the Stock rack flooring?

I had to cut a couple inches off the side then reassemble them, but they where free.
April 4, 201213 yr Thanks. I had to cut a couple inches off the side then reassemble them, but they where free. Good to know! I might go this route (Or similar soon)
April 4, 201213 yr Author Good to know! I might go this route (Or similar soon) Ya it was impossible to find stock crossbars around here they even side into the stock slides on the roof. I forgot that I had made a thread last year oops.
April 4, 201213 yr That looks awesome. I've wanted that exact set of wheels for a really long time, I'm glad they look as good on one of these as I always thought they would Really digging the twin headlight grill too.
April 4, 201213 yr The last set of wheels you bought. What brand, size, offset, and of course what tire fitment are you running? That GL is absolutely bad@$$!!! Oh, and I am new to older Subaru's but how did you lower it? Did you clock the torsion bars in the rear and then do different struts? How did she do at autoX? Thanks for posting.
April 4, 201213 yr I love it, autoxing with the bike rack on top, I don't need no stinking aerodynamics. I'm really starting to develop an affinity for these early 80's wagons. Nicely done, very creative.
April 4, 201213 yr Author The wheels are Drag DR-20s. They are 15x7 with an offset of 40. The tires are 195/50R15 Kumho Ecsta Ast. I reclocked the rear torsion bar 1 place I think, and took 2 1/2 coils off the front since you can't really get aftermarket parts with swapping to a newer frontend. I didnt do to bad at the autox for being an auto. I beat about 8 cars.
April 4, 201213 yr Care to share any tips on your hub redrill process? I would love to do this to mine.
April 4, 201213 yr Author I kinda just made a template out of a piece of metal that I had. I had 4 lines going out from the middle at 90 degree angles. I then measured 70mm from the center on each line so they would be 140mm apart from each other the stock bolt pattern. I drilled out the holes to the stock lug width so I could use lugnuts to hold it tight while drilling the new holes. I did the same thing for the second bolt pattern which is 4x100 so the holes are 50mm away from the center, but I put the new holes in the middle of the old holes since I figured it'd be strongest that way. I drilled some small holes in those so I could drill 4 small holes then take the template off to work up the drill bit sizes. I forget how big I drilled it out to and how it looked since I did it last year. When I go back to my parents house this weekend I'll try to find it and take a pic. I need to find it anyway since I found a fwd XT-6 at a junkyard s it'll get a rear disk brake swap.
April 13, 201213 yr 1st beautiful wagon. 2nd would you do a huge favor to the usmb and make a write up on the 4x100 conversion when you do the rear disc swap? it would be handy to be able to use rims that fit almost every import. and you could run rims from a tercel to keep the 13inch rims...idk why anyone would do that but options are always nice. And i bet car rims have much better offset than truck rims. 3rd KEEP UP THE GOODWORK!!!!

June 28, 201312 yr what did the headlights and front end come off of? Edited June 28, 201312 yr by TOI
June 29, 201312 yr Author The headlights were off a EA81 DL hatchback. It seems like just the cheap ones got them. I've gone back to 4x140 for now, because I had studs thats would like to break loose in the drums even with tack welds on them. This summer I'll hopefully go to 6 lug of something. I have some nice aluminum slots that'd look good on it, or some wide Chevy steel wheels like my Datsun has.
June 29, 201312 yr i have fallen in love with your wagon, i might do something like it in the sedan flavor
June 29, 201312 yr That is pretty bad@$$. Too bad about the redrill issues though the wheels really set it off.
