July 1, 201213 yr The car in front of me swerved to avoid it. I drove over it. I was amazed that the clearance was just enough. The mattress made a "crrrunch" sound as the car effortlessly whizzed over it. The body made no contact. No damage to tires either. Really I can hardly believe it myself! If the mattress hadn't laid so flat and wasn't just a modest single unit it would have made contact with something other than the wheels.
July 1, 201213 yr WOW, good nothing bad happened!!! Did you have a glass of beer already with your angel?
July 1, 201213 yr I once "killed" a forklift many years ago when I worked in a steel mill. Sort of used it as a bulldozer one night pushing used pallets into a large pile that I then sat on fire. The dept. supervisor sure was puzzled when he drove past it the next morning. Anyways, the area i was cleaning up was lousy with steel banding material. When I came to work the next shift, the forklift was on its side and a couple of guys with torches worked the entire shift cutting the banding straps from the driveshaft. Strange thing is no one said a word to me about it even though it was obvious I was responsible for the damage. Believe me, steelworkers in general and white hats in particular are not known for their social skills.
July 2, 201213 yr The best part is all the guys standing around in dumbstruck awe, hoping they're not the poor sucker who's gonna have to fix it.
July 2, 201213 yr the story that came with those pics (dunno if it's true) was that the lady only stopped after a hole poked in the tank by a wire-end, draining the fuel, forced her to the side of the road. She evidently told the tow truck driver she "felt a little vibration" after running over a mattress. Edited July 2, 201213 yr by 1 Lucky Texan

July 2, 201213 yr I have seen brake rotors that according to the customer 'just started making noise' worn to the point where there was 'rotor' on one side of the rotor and nothing but the cooling vanes on the other.
July 3, 201213 yr Every mechanic in that pic is thinking the same thing: "Yup, there's yer problem, right there."
