Thanks! Looking back it was a crazy amount of work... I couldn't image doing it again. But I'm really glad I did.

My prototype was 1/2" aluminum, hand cut with a jigsaw. The plates I later put into production were CNC cut steel.

 

 

Flywheel was welded up and redrilled.

I know seeing a good build thread gets me pumped for my own projects and gets me coming up with all kinds of ideas.

 

Still got a few more to share, too.

Thought I would do a couple posts on some of the detail mods I did.

 

First was correcting the speedometer. I scanned the stock speedo face and rebuilt it adjusting for the larger tire size I would be running. I work as a graphic designer, so recreating the speedo face on the computer was easy to do.

 

I printed it on heavy stock and then affixed it with double-sided tape to a piece of plastic I cut to size.

 

 

While I was at it I upped the redline on the tach for the EJ22 I was dropping in.

 

 

This was an early test with the lights on. I think I reprinted them to match the stock orange color a little better soon after. Overall, this was one of my favorite mods on the build.

I'll see if I can dig them up and make them available. Just be careful with your gauges if you try the mod. The needles don't like to come on and off too many times.

how were you capable of stripping all the tar off the floor befor the rubber coat/bed liner that you put on the floor?.. ive been wanting to do it but dont really have patiance for all the time consumption.. is there a fast way??? and do you know of a way to correct a digi dash for tire size... just curious... and very nice biuld she is looking real good!!!!

Don't think I had a trick to it... just chipped it off with a big screwdriver and hammer. Might have buzzed it down with a wire wheel to get the little stuck on bits after. I had a lot more free time in those days. No experience with digi-dashes myself...

Marcus.. Dry ice is the quick way. Freeze it then chip it out with hammer and chisel.

I too am a designer and have done hundreds of custom gauges back in my day for all the ricers. I love how you kept your's stock looking. Function over form.

Awesome, I'm tempted to yank some gauges out of a PT cruiser or intrepid very cool retro look. This has me wanting to get on my hatch, keep up the good work.
