April 22, 20169 yr Former Toyota owner but just bought 1999 Forester and doing some maintenance. After watching the only youtube videos on filter replacement in 1999 Forester I got under glove box but could not find any evidence of a filter, mainly the absence of a screw, etc.. that would allow me to remove filter. Do I need to pull the glove box to get at it?I I've read that on some models including that year (1999) the cabin filter was an option. Any help would be appreciated.
April 22, 20169 yr doesn't have one. In the US, I don't think any soob had one before 2000 or 01 or so. Edited April 22, 20169 yr by 1 Lucky Texan
April 22, 20169 yr doesn't have one. In the US, I don't think any soob had one before 2000 or 01 or so. Yep, and even then it was an accessory in all but the absolute top of the line models.
April 24, 20169 yr My 99 has one, just replaced it a couple months ago. So they do exist in U.S. Foresters but apparently not in yours. It's fairly easy to get to.
April 25, 20169 yr They were an optional feature, you can buy a kit to install it in any Forester, I put one in my wife's car. IF your car has one, it will be behind a little access panel on the underside of the dashboard in the front passenger's footwell. Google is your friend, try searching for images.
April 25, 20169 yr I stand corrected, I just looked in the replacement parts catalog (gets updated more frequently), and there it is. Starting in '98 Forester, all others in 2000 G3210FC000 is the part number for it. Googling that shows some documentation about it.
April 25, 20169 yr My 2002 Forester came from the factory with the filter-box in place, but with no filters installed. The filter-box is black plastic, located under and behind (forward) of the glove-box. The filter-box has a rectangular access-door on its lower side, held in place by 2 steel clips. It's not the easiest to get to, but if you have one, it should be obvious.
