Hello everyone, first time posting so bear with me!

 

Last winter I bought a 1990 Loyale 4WD Turbo with 55k in just about perfect condition. I'm the 2nd owner, been garaged its whole life. It did have some problems with overheating which led to me sinking a few grand into it to replace all engine gaskets, water pump, and radiator, but other than that it's run like a total dream and has been consistently maintained throughout its life.

 

I'm curious to see about what money I might be able to get out of it if I sell. Between buying it and the repairs I spent around $5k total, and based on the research I did before buying it seems like an extremely reliable and desirable ride. Any help or input as far as helping figuring out a solid value would be much appreciated!

They're not worth $5k.   Even in great condition, I think you would be very lucky to break even.  More realistically, expect to lose money if you sell it.

 

My advice would be to keep it and drive it.

realistically you'll get around 3-4k tops. nice loyale's and gl's down here go for super cheap.

and i bought a 1991 loyale running and driving for $500. it was the damn cleanest loyale i've seen and the interior was perfect

It depends on where you are. Rust free ones are not seen around here, unless you see one of mine. Rusty ones are not even around here. CT.

 

I paid over 3k for one a few years ago, and had it shipped from California. It ended up needing headgaskets, which I did myself. It is getting to be a specialty repair to maintain them, as they approach 30 years old, and parts are going no longer available.

With mileage that low it’s possible to get high and unexpected prices. But low mileage is an odd and small niche so it won’t be predictable and very unlikely to get that locally or even in your state except by luck.

 

Loyales aren’t novelty and having engine work could cause some buyers to move on but someone will pay more for the low mileage.

 

I’d love to see a nice Subaru stay here or another good Subaru group but eBay is where you’ll get the low mileage niche addicts.

Resealed engine is good - if it was done correctly.  Miles don't matter much to me, I've taken a few of these past 200K, and only lost them due to rust.  I've seen others with much higher miles.

 

But people who don't know Subarus don't always know that the low miles isn't what to decide on.
