1993 Loyale Wgn 4wd EA82 1.8 Litre

 

So I replaced the passenger side today... although things went smoothly smooth almost concerningly smooth. The Ball joint I bought at autozone seemed the proper diameter fit form and function. Yet the threaded stud didn't seem to have a taper or much of one to tighten it's self into the lower a arm, as well there was no hole on the end for a cotter pin to go through a castle nut. Which seemed strange as it came with a nylon locking nut. I already know this is probably going to be a pain to change next time. All seems well so far, still got a little shimmy with the shake cruising the highway but I feel as though I'm not living on the edge anymore lol!

 

Anybody else get something similar lately?

The ones I got at napa a while ago were all normal like the original ones.

+1 They are made by Moog. There's nothing wrong with the nylock style as long as the threads stick out past the nut.

Oh yeah! Now that ya mention the manufacture!! Duh! It's Duralast for the make lol! And there is ample treads

Autozone parts are generally complete garbage. You are better off shopping at Advance Auto. They own Worldpac, and have access to a range of much better brands.

 

Autozone sold a neighboring shop a PCV valve for a used engine they bought from me (I sent the engine over with the original and would have suggested they get a factory part, but they didn't ask) - the valve failed and burned up all the engine's oil in 600 miles. Rod knock ensued. This shop spends $50,000 a year with Autozone, and they said - "The customer should have checked the oil level - warranty claim denied". The customer was a little old lady in her 80's.

GD, that story definitely does not reflect the corporate attitude at AutoZone. They're very understanding on warranty claims. But ultimately it's down to the Commercial manager at the store, and sometimes the regional manager in the area.

Yes - I agree. The difference is that if you *want* a better brand, they don't offer it. And now with their sale of IMC to Parts Authority, they will no longer have access to the good Japanese brands that IMC carries.
