Here's my 1984 GL Turbor Wagon

Featured Replies

Here from Chino California introducing my new 1984 GL Turbo Wagon. I believe im the second owner after all the hassles I've been thru with DMV. I found the car on craigslist after just browsing thru the ad's, It was a barn find. The guy I got it from had it parked over ten years. What got me interested was the low mileage. I has 95236 original miles on the odemeter. The car is pretty much complete. Just a dent on the driver side door. What sold me was that it came with the complete factory service manual. And the car manual with the maintenance book with all the services done at its proper mileage.

Thanks to all. I'm finding out little by little why it was parked for ten years.  Its running rich and has fail smog twice. So far I have replace everything but the oxygen sensor. I will start a thread on the on the  Old Gen forum to see who could give some suggestions.

Try doing some tests on the fuel pressure regulator.  You have the EA81 factory service manual and EA81T supplement, correct?

Thats the only thing I haven't done. I dread it cause if thats the issue. Im going to a difficult time to find a replacement.  Also having a difficult time trying to remove the oxygen sensor. I need to get a thin wall socket.

Keep an eye out for the supplement on eBay, I've seen a few pop up here and there in the recent past.

I am a little confused. Doesn't California let 25 yr old & older cars avoid being smogged (emissions)?

By the way, yours is the turbo/automatic trans version of my '84 GL. You have a nice car there.

No, not in Cali.  Anything newer than 1974 will get smogged.

That's a really nice 84, nice find!  I had an 84 maroon GL FWD sedan in 1992 and it wasn't in nearly as nice condition :)
