89 GL wagon fuel pump

Featured Replies

I am pretty sure I am having a fuel pump issue. Driving down the road at 55mph and the engine just cut off, no fuel. Wouldn't start back. Pulled it back to the house and removed a fuel hose to the carb/EI and as suspected, no fuel. The issue is, I had ordered what Rock Auto said was the replacement fuel pump ($39) and it looks nothing like what is on mine. Scouring the internet for (

SPECTRA PREMIUM SP1319 - $255, also looks as if it has to be manufactured, b/c delivery date is 1-2 MONTHS- looks the same as mine. Are people adapting a different pump instead of using this very expensive replacement?

Someone may have a spare.  Also check with any local boneyards.  Some people have reported using a fuel pump from an old F150 pickup.  You'll need to search this website for more info. Good luck

the fuel injected thing is weird. yes and no. looks like a carb but has electronic parts. kind of the crossover years

Look it up on www.carid.com

They list both carb and fuel injection. Fuel injection will be 22 psi and carb will be like 4-5 psi.

Airbox to the side or airbox centred on top of the engine?

If centred on top of the engine, it’s a carb. If on the RHS of the vehicle it’s EFI. Single port or multi port it doesn’t really matter.

Cheers
