Spock
Hello all I am new here. I just bought a 1992 Loyale base wagon with 1.8 and 3 speed auto tranny. The car is absolutely mint and only 133k miles but I just found out the motor has a spun bearing. I cant find a motor or someone to rebuild mine here in AZ. Any ideas? I really don't want to spend too much more on it. I can't part it out as my HOA wont allow that. Any ideas?
Ionstorm66
Swapping a motor isn't hard if you can find one. Though with the 3eat it might me better to swap a 5 speed at the same time. I've got a motor, but I'm all the way in Florida. Maybe someone more local could help.
Spock
what do you want for your motor? how many miles? Transmission included?
Ionstorm66
It's yours if you want it. It has like 260K on it. I have a 4wd 5mt. Only thing missing for a swap is the shifter top is broken, and the rear section of the drive shaft.
Spock
that's a lot of smiles. I think I'm just going to sell the whole car. I'll let someone else have all the fun. Any Buyers?

Power windows and locks were made standard when they went to the Loyale from GL/DL, so they are super common.
Ionstorm66
Also I would baulk at 260k. It still has good oil pressure, and all the lifters are still working. You keep the oil clean and at pressure, an EA82 will last a long time. The normal culprits for killing them are oil pump gasket and timing belt snapping which kills the oil pressure, or just all the oil leaking out. Overheating/bad headgaskets only really kills the EA82Ts because the heads crack. Edited October 7, 2020 by Ionstorm66
