y'all seem to be forgetting something. the Impreza 22B does not have an EJ22G. it has an EJ22B engine. hence the 22B. it's essential the equivalent of a phase II version of the EJ22G. The EJ18E/Ej20x/EJ22E/EJ22G and the EJ251 phase I engine can swap cranks, but the phase II EJ25 has a different thrust bearing location, ect. so does the EJ22B, a different thrust bearing location.

 

It's different enough that in the UK, from a rumor that I heard, you can't order parts (ie: shortblock) unless you can prove you own a 22B. lol

Jon is correct. The Legacy Turbo is the Phase I closed-deck EJ22, and the 22B is the Phase II.

 

The Phase I has oil squirters, the Phase II doesn't even have a place for them, that enough makes the blocks decidedly different. Also yes, the 22B has a different thrust bearing location.

How would you be able to have it in the US? Wouldn't it just be impounded at customs? I remember something about Bill Gates trying to import a Porsche and they wouldn't let them.

I dont know what laws you have in the states but i guess each Sates is different...You might be about to get it Imported as a Classic Car or a Show car.. You would have to check with your State..

Im told there is a few 22B's in American already including one in Florida and one in Texas..

If you wanted to be illegal, you could swap VIN's from a 2-door Impreza L and probably get the 22B over here. But personally, I wouldn't ruin such a rare car just to get it into a country that's generally boring to drive in anyway

there are loopholes for getting a car like that here into the states and it usualy just requires that a few mods be made for collision be made and also there is one at Cherry Hill, New Jersey too don't forget
