New tires on new rims.

Featured Replies

I was going to paint them black before i got new tires. But it was a spur of the moment thing... had the rims in the back with miss-matched tires... and found a good deal on a new set of 195/50's.

The tires are Wynstar's. Guess nothing to be proud of, but i like the tread pattern and the fact they are brand new. Have to be better than what I have now.

And yes... there are pix :)

nice Brian. you can still paint em. just takes some good masking.

those tires look ok. 195/ 50/15 may actually be a tad bit shorter than the stock ones that are on there. not buy much though.

ok lets se em on the RX. its gona handle like a champ!

Well, you probably know what I'm about to say, "Leave it stock"..they look good as is.

(the thread is worthless without pics of rims mounted on RX)

LOL, rims will go on tomorrow. Sorry all.

Russ, i dont mind that the tires are smaller. The speedo already doesnt work right.

2 of the rims still have the black decals on the spokes, so i have to remove those before i paint the rims. I'll put them on the car as-is and then see how they look.

Dave, I dont think i need to reply :) The RX wont be stock, it will be far from stock.

i was thinking about spraying mine, but im concerned that spray paint wont be very durable on wheels. the pugs are gonna be my 'street' wheels so i want them to look kinda nice, i might get them powdercoated if the price is right...

I used some stuff called VHT wheel paint. worked really good. just need to clean em well first.

Brian- I was not so concerned about the speedo off.(you can fix that if you want ) but the actual gear ratio will be a little different. slightly higher RPM to maintain the same speed. not much at all really.

NVzeno its my fault the car got started down the not so stock road.

but if I did not grab it and start fixin it up along with the guy who helped rescue it the car would be crushed by now. It was sent to the junk yard a few years back. so better a Modified sube than a flat sube huh?

ANd what better Subaru to modify but the RX :) There's a box i got from Rallyruss in the garage, and the hoodscoop idea im brewing will be some of the most anti-wrx style scoops there are :)

So much for keeping her stock. The Suspension will be part Legacy & XT6 stuff.... so thats kinda stock... cause its subaru, right? :)

The intercooler is from a Saab, so thats definatly not stock.

I like the first style. Makes me kinda wish I didn't sell them to ya! Thats cool though, have fun, and you'll have a SWEET RX any way you decide to go with those.

To put a twist on your two mock-up paint jobs, I'd mask off the outer lip and paint the rest of the wheel black. Sort of what I'm planning for my WRX wheels.

Ding, Ding, Ding... we have a winner with #2, looks very "Rally".

First thing though, black out the deeper sections of the rim and maybe leave the lip bright, something like this...

Or maybe something like this...

Just a couple of quickies, I'd have to see them for real to know for sure, I figured if I got some Pugs I'd just do all satin black or gunmetal, but maybe there are other options.

Cool stuff

Major drooling here..just keep them away from the corrosive snow removal formula they use over in California, and they will keep looking great!
