what is everybody boosting to? i guess 14 is about all the computer and fuel system can handle, stock... but what about the guys with haltechs? and what about bigger turbos? a legacy turbo bolts right on, save the down pipe. anyone hit 20lbs? if a 2.0 eclipse can put out over three hundred hp on a stock lower end, i wanna hear about a 250hp 1.8ea82:banana:

Working on it. For the sake of research purposes i'll divulge a little information on my own project.

 

I'm boosting 12psi with an intercooler and some slight fuel management. The car is a daily driver RX. The only problem I have is decreased gas mileage.

 

I have more planned, but darn it, i want to be the first at something, so I'm gonna keep my ideas to myself until I can conjure up something

 

 

 

Also...Turbo legacys were 2.2 correct? and the WRX is a turbo 2.0? seems the wrx turbo would be more aptly suited for our little engines.

someone on ausubaru has a 300hp EA82 but the insides are all forged and super-duperized and whatnot. definitely not stock.

 

how much is wise though, given that the crank only has 3 main bearings?

i dont want to get into the ole big turbo vs. small turbo, but the 2.2 should be great, just more lag, but more overall cfm.

Yes, its an 87 rx. And yes its a hot wire MAF. And yes, sometimes the boost does cut out. Its annoying...but not nearly as regular as it should be.

 

I'm going to buy a HKS fuel cut defender...or a MRT fuel cut defender. Either one should work, and for about $100 too. Only cause i'm not sure what esle to do.

 

Archemitis: 2.2 would be great, if you could keep it spooled. Sure, i'm gonna want to be fast in a straight line...but i'm really into that huge amount of boost just pulling you out of a turn, so I'm going to go with the faster spooling turbo. Either turbo would be great, it just depends on how you want it to drive.

There used to be a guy on the board that would build bypass for the fuel cutoff for about $25.. I haven't seen him on the board, but I may still have his email addy..

i remember seeing the defenser. i think its just cheap stuff from radio shack.

What about the SAAB 900 turbo APC unit, pressure solenoid valve and the pressure transducer? I thought I seen some people work around the subaru fuel cut using these SAAB parts.

we run 14-16psi, but that is with forged pistons and steel headgaskets and a front mount intercooler with watersprayer (plus it is a rally car) A friends leone was running a top mount cooler, with a legacy turbo and consistently running 18-20psi boost, with std pistons and internals. That car ran 3 seasons without a major rebuild. It think to stop the cut there is a boost switch by the drivers side strut tower you can disconnect that will stop the boost cut. Running 14-16psi we have no problems with the car leaning out, if anything it is over-rich. I know someone said something to me about it, and mine doesn't have it.

yea i know personly of an RX that ran 18psi on legacy turbo but for road use, it lasted for quite a while,, actually we dont know how long it would have lasted as it was rebuilt to strenghten it up anyway, when it was pulled down bearings were pretty rooted, but dont know how old the engine was to start with so it didnt help much.

 

was suprisingly quick too , will be a lot quicker when its finished tho
