April 9, 200520 yr well kids, its been a while... school'd been kicking my butt, not to mention work... but anyhoo here's some shots of my free brat... now to get 'er running... well to see how do-able that is i guess so its got a stuck 1600 under the hood, and another 1600 riding shotgun, which was running when it was purchased (10 yrs ago) then left to sit.... so gunna see what it'll take to fire it up.. so correct me if i'm wrong you masters of the old school, is the starter mounted to the bell housing, not the engine? kinda a pain in the rump roast to get it running outside of the car this way... anyhoo, that's the progress to date...
April 10, 200520 yr HAHAHAHA!!!! I have the same cheeseball 70's replacement radio in my '78 4WD wagon... Is your volume knob broken too?Hard to tell in that picture.I'll send to a stock radio if you need one.I also should have an extras console that hasn't been cut. Good luck with it.
April 10, 200520 yr I got some extra parts left over from my '78 Brat which has been stripped down to be reworked into a Subaru/Nissan minitruck. Subaru body, Nissan truck frame cut down to fit underneath it. No, I'm not doing cheap either;) If you need any extra parts, lemme know and I'll see what I got!

April 10, 200520 yr i have an extra dl brat grill off of a 79 brat that is in great shape in p-town orygun if you need that when it is time to get to the bodywork. maybe we could work out a trade or something. i might have other parts to but i would have to check. i have 2.5 brats and most of the parts are in my dads basement. let me know if you want some. one is a blue interior one is brown and the black white one i still drive
April 19, 200520 yr Author I may have a hit on a 78 DL wagon 5 speed. If this pans out I'll probly swap that engine into the 79 brat and see about bumpers and wheels to get it running... Don't know What the engine's like, but i have seen in running around town so i know it works... at least better than the spar engine sitting for 10 yrs I'll keep ya'll posted... Gotta get finals out of the way before i put any real time and effort into this, but i'm stoked to get the 'ol brat running! -mw-

Is your avitar the same brat with a topper? What kind of milage do you get? Yours (the dl) is FWD and 4WD, not dual range 4by?
