April 23, 200520 yr Hey Western Washington people. I need about 5 people (strong people) to help lift two walls tomorrow around noon. It should take less then an hour because the walls (one is now) should be ready by noon on Saturday. Sorry for the late notice, I didn't realize the garage door headers would be so heavy. Call me if yopu have my cell phone number, other wise just reply here and I'll check later tonight and tomorrow morning. Like the old saying, there is no such thing as a free lunch, but if you help, I'll spring for pizzas.

April 23, 200520 yr If I can finalize plans for being on your side of the water tomorrow I will be there. "Barn raisings" can be fun... might do it anyways and ignore the gas-cost. I would need directions and contact info. Also, any tools that I should bring along that would be handy? Saw, framing-nailer, etc? Or are you just looking for strong backs and weak minds? April 24, 200520 yr Author Thanks for all the offers, Dan, Jay and Tex finally showed up. I show Tex and Dan how to make a winch pull up using only a couple of boards, that is how we got the front wall up. We waited for Jay to tackle the back wall, but it was still a little too much, so my wife got a neighbor to help. Both walls are up, now tomorrow I'll try to get the remaining three walls up (yep there are five side to this building). The 30 foot long wall I can do in two sections. I'd also like to thank Zap for offering to help, eventhough he had a very busy family day scheduled.

April 24, 200520 yr Gack! Corky, I'm sorry; I was so busy posting stuff in the marketplace that I didn't look here until tonight. Did you get it done? I'm heading south to qman's tomorrow around 10:30 so that makes the timing awkward. I should be returning about 3pm. I wish you had called; anything would have been better than trying to clean out my mess in the garage!
April 24, 200520 yr Author Hey, don't worry guys, like it said, "Short Notice". I was expecting more, but was very greatful for the few that showed. Rob, I have the same home onwers insurance that I had when we tore apart the back deck, it didn't seem to worry you then.

April 25, 200520 yr Yes, he's getting trusses done. Apparently the big rush was because the trusses arrive on thursday. He needs to get all the walls up so they can just drop them up on top, instead of in the driveway so he doesn't have to figure out how to get them up there himself.

Yep, the trusses will be delivered Thursday, I need to get them up in place and plywood on them so hopefully I can get the inspector to come by Friday afternoon to buy them off so that I can put the roofing on Saturday and Sunday. It should be sporty, especially since most of you guys will be working on Thursday, should be fun.

April 26, 200520 yr Author If you need help in the evening before Thursday, let me know.I probably won't need much help until Thursday, the last wall will be going up within an hour after I post this, it is just putting the shiving on and setting the truss clips. Thursday night will be the critical night.
