October 7, 200520 yr Had some time to kill and surfed onto that Iceland offroad website and searched for Subarus. Here's some of what I found: I've seen this LegaYota with 44's before but in a different pose. http://www.f4x4.is/new/files/photo/?file=files/photoalbums/921/5673.jpg http://kjolur.f4x4.is/photoalbum/images/720-2761-17945.jpg Brat http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/3504 Touring wagon with SubyBeast style lift http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/778 Legacy sedan playing on a ski hill http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/1635 There was also an EA81 powered Suzuki, but man it was ugly.
October 7, 200520 yr I checked that website out a few times, and all I have to say is that they are some crazy (insert explitives of choice here since this is a "family" forum)!
October 7, 200520 yr Man, I gotta go to iceland and rally my car.. looks fun there that legacy on 44's is the poop
October 7, 200520 yr Those pics are great. They sure make some good lookin 4X4's Makes my Subie feel kinda punnie.
October 7, 200520 yr http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/3504 thats a reely good one, shows how they built the lift kit for it, then installed 84 hp ea82! high power! =] and they are runing old toyota wheels. thats just good stuff...
October 7, 200520 yr man.. they're hard core.... i showed my subaru those pictures and it started to leak oil from the headlight....
October 7, 200520 yr I was looking at the lift kit for the wagon It seems like the engine and rear diff are lowered on blocks but the tranny isnt. these two pictures are ones that show the tranny crossmember. How does he get the engine and tranny to bolt together? Looks like he made custom struts for the front. I wonder how long his axles hold up w/all that flex. BW
October 7, 200520 yr BYB kit has shorter blocks at the tranny x-member than at the engine x-member. Seemed to go together fine. Then you don't have to make / extend shifter linkages.
October 7, 200520 yr Author That first link of the "Legacy" I posted wasn't working for me so I just reposted what should be the correct link. Cool pic...looks like a volcanic cinder cone in the background.
October 7, 200520 yr yeah I love that lift. keeps the tranny up inside the car instead of lowering it. Me and my cousin were talking about lifts and making a new style lift up. There has to be some sort of way to make a shackle for the control arms to the engine crossmember. to make more suspension travel and more controlled like on a linkage swingarm on a dirtbike. Another idea is hydaulic steering. No steering column at all. It would use a juicebox and a steering wheel and then there would be hydraulic lines running down to rams that would be placed where the rack and pinion is whatya doin
October 7, 200520 yr I used to live in Iceland a few years ago. The people there are very cool. I wish I knew they were doing this while I was there. Mabe I will go back some time and go wheeling with them!
October 10, 200520 yr There has to be some sort of way to make a shackle for the control arms to the engine crossmember. to make more suspension travel and more controlled like on a linkage swingarm on a dirtbike. Do it like the big dogs with IFS. New control arms, crossmembers, axles, suspension all for longer travel. Too bad nobody would buy it due to price. And even then you'd still have no gear upgrades and less travel than solid axles. Anything is possible
