Somone sugjested that I start making "Air gates" ( steel mesh tail gate ) for Brats.

I was just wondering how much interest there was in these? He thinks that there is a lot. So if there is, I will make a jig to build them on.

I think its a great idea.. just think of all the rusted tailgates out there in Brat land.... Besides everyone knows how the original tailgates get bent up , the original seems cheap.... Also try and find a tailgate that is not all bent up and rusted on the east coast. hard to find in a junk yard..... Or you could buy one of the air brat gates and take your good one off and save it...

And how about the fuel econo issues... No more air

Yes, I'm thinkin' that the East coast would be the big market for these. Salt on the roads and all. Here on the west coast we take non rusted soobs for granted:eek:

I think that I will do the 1st one free hand so to speak, and then see what hapens from there.

I have a rusted out tailgate I would be happy to donate for a pattern (for size) All the holes are in the proper place and stuff.

 

Since I am bobbing the tail and wont be using THAT tailgate anymore, it would be nice to have an air gate for it. Well if the price is right anyway

I might be willing to get one as well. Was thinking of putting my tailgate on eBay and make some money, would like to have something nice to replace it with.

Been giving this some consideration since the thread was first posted. Ok, talked myself into it. Put me down for one for now. May order another one at later date. I do have 2 BRATs after all. Besides, wouldn't want one of them to feel left out. KWIM,V.....

it would be sweet to get one of those cages they put on the bajas and the nissan 4 door pickups. You lower your tailgate and put these things on the end and get an extra foot or so out of the bed. I thought that someone would have made one of these for a brat by now.

They may have made them at one time - hard to tell. But since Brat's are so rare now, good luck finding one.

I could make one, might not be quite as fancy as the stock ones, but it would look good and work good.
