stinky
Here's some video of me wheeling in the mud yesterday: video
TheSubaruJunkie
Thats awesome! Does your rig have a locked rear end or limited slip rear? Amazing how you plowed through most of that stuff. -Brian
stinky
Yeah ... locked rear. Even then there were a few spots that I just sunk into and had to get snatched out of. Usually in the spots where everyone else was sensible enough to avoid the deep stuff Two of the guys had slipperies and I wasn't really impressed by them ... nothing beats a locked rear diff. Which car DIDNT get bogged? Nah totally agree though - I'd love to get a locker. LSD will do for me though.
Phizinza
Find me where in Australia I can buy super swampers and I'll get some! I saw some on Ebay, 31" I think... Wanted like $1200 for all four or something stupid like that. I'll stick with me nice kumhos!
4x4mudrat
$1200 . . . hmmm, I paid more for 5 215/75/15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrains. SuperSwampers are available, I personally don't rate them to highly.
Sarge
SuperSwampers are available, I personally don't rate them to highly. Swampers are great if you use them for their inteneded use and you know how to drive..... And most of all, understand when you purchase them, that you aren't getting 50,000 miles out of them. 4x4mudrat
This is just my own experience (bar their new Irok), I'm sure others will find varying results depending on how and where they drive. AGAINST: They bag poorly at low pressures, the carcass crumples The rubber compound doesn't stick to rocks as readily as a Cooper, BFG, Claws or MT/R They are more susceptible to sidewall punctures than Cooper and BFG They are cheaply built tires, similar to a Simex FOR: The only better tire in mud is the Simex Extreme Trekker
Uberoo
swampers have some of the hardest sidewalls Ive ever seen.BFG you have to guard the sidewalls.granted they are mud tires that work in a lot of situations.they dont work on rocks?why do so many people in rockcrawling competions have them?Maybe your experiance is with the old bias construction TSL's or boggers. 4x4mudrat
This is probably true - I've only really been around the comp-spec 'Swampers. I'm really just offering an educated opinon here - things like this are so subjective eh?
Uberoo
IROK's?
A DOG
IROK's? They are the ugliest swampers they make. I think they look like crap and don't look very affective. Smaller and skinnier lugs. I don't like the way they made the lugs look haggard.
Uberoo
no I was asking if his experiance with swampers was with iroks.personally I hate IROK's awell.the swampers just look great.
4x4mudrat
No I've never driven a car with Iroks. A mate did put a set of 37s on his buggy but sold it shortly thereafter. I think BFG's new Krawlers are the best comp tire around at the moment actually.
WheaT_BeeR_MaN
Great video, makes me jelous its not wet season here. i wish i had lsd
stinky
We're not in wet season here either ... in fact we're in a drought with all sorts of crazy water restrictions. When we do get the occasional rain it isn't hitting the catchment areas for the dams so about all it's good for is wheelin' in
