Help:Parking lights staying on when key off!

Featured Replies

I have a 97 Legacy GT and as the topic states the parking lights are staying on with the key off. I took out the fuse and they went off... Any clue where to look next?:banghead:

Thanks,

Eric

Switch on top of steering wheel. Make sure it's not in the "ON" position.

Known, somewhat crudely, as the "virgin switch". (Every new person to Subarus stumble over this quirk.)

I'm gonna laugh my arse off if that fixes it

HEY, why do we keep explaining this switch to the newbies. We're using up all the virgins, what will the Sons of Abraham do in paradise? :D

Dont worry Eric. All eric's make mistakes. Im a Eric and i make mistakes lol.

I think every Subaru owner in history has been had by this at one point or another.

has been had by this

Tha's why they're no longer virgins, eh?

I was never had by this switch. I read my manual first ;)
The Subie techs refer to it as the battery kill switch... kaching$$

'Battery kill switch'..........LMAO! The switch has not gotten me, due solely to the fact I had read about it on this forum. It is awfully easy to turn it on by mistake, especially when cleaning the dash and sterring wheel/column.:(

Hmm,you too huh :D

if i remeber correctly(which i don't very often),i never used it with my first subaru which was a 86 gl wagon..

Diagnosed this one recently over the phone. Never "been had" by it. I was trying out all the switches to see what they did (unless they were marked with universal icons, or words. In that case I knew what they did. . .) and discovered the behaviour of this switch (my car did not come with a manual). Then I read about it on this forum, then I found a manual and read about it in there. What am I, some sort of geek?
