October 25, 200619 yr I bought an old Wheels magazine off trademe and found a couple of cool ads in it. My main reason for buying the magazine ws the group test of a Mitsubushi Cordia turbo vs Toyota Celica vs Subaru Vortex XT. As they werent testing the Turbo vortex i think the comparison wasnt all that fair. However the main conclusions were the Celica being the best all rounder, the Subaru was the most comfortable cruising car and the Cordia was a dissapointment. Anyways, heres a nice ad for the USMB collection. If anyones interested in that article, you can read it in my gallery at: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=13248&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent - for page 1 and 2 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=13249&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent - for page 3 and 4 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=13250&size=big&limit=recent - for page 5 and 6 Cheers Edit: There ya go - links fixed. October 25, 200619 yr i would kinda like a better scan i'd like to read the article to see how they all stacked up
October 25, 200619 yr "The automatic, in particular, is very significant. "It has an advanced (and unique) new system that immediately engages four-wheel drive under hard braking, acceleration, or when the windshield wipers are switched on." Hmmmm...
October 25, 200619 yr i like how that soob is on the left side of the road Appropriate, since it's a RHD model. Look at the wipers. You can also see the RH steering wheel inside the sedan on the lower right, as well as the Leone plate on the front.
October 25, 200619 yr I spotted the trunk lid out of alignment for the sube on the tracks... must be like that from new I saw a 4wd sedan recently. It passed me with a whole different height than my 2wd (now wrecked ) I must be getting old for only 30 something- 1987 is when I got my drivers license, and it doesn't seem all that long ago.
December 14, 200619 yr Does the 4wd really come on with the windshield wipers??? I've never driven a pushbutton car.
December 14, 200619 yr I remember reading part of the book Crap Cars in a book store, and one of the cars it listed was the XT, which it criticised for having 4WD that switched on with the wipers.
December 14, 200619 yr Did the ones in Oz do this? I know the automatics in europe did this, I have the original dealer brochure of the '88+ XT and it states that the 4wd comes on (or partially, since it's a clutch type center diff) when you turn on the windscreen wipers I would scan it for you, but since it's in dutch, I doubt anybody can read it
December 15, 200619 yr The 4WD comes on when you turn on the wipers, when you brake and when you are accelerating hard. L
December 15, 200619 yr The 4WD comes on when you turn on the wipers, when you brake and when you are accelerating hard. L That's kinda what the article said in the first post.. I never knew this either. Personally I think autos are rubbish, but that's just me.
December 15, 200619 yr This mechanism was called "Auto 4WD" and the 3AT and the Push-Button 5MT Leone without Turbo had it from 1985 until 1989. The XT Turbo had it only until 1987, in 1987 came the 4EAT and 5MT AWD. L
