crankshaft bolt striped and wont come out

Featured Replies

If the bolt turns freely and nothing is happening - not coming out and not thightening - that means almost nothing is hoding that bolt in there. If any of the threads were engaging, this would not happen. So i really dont understand the idea of using an impact wrench, the starter method or bolt extractor. Those methods are useful when the bolt does'nt budge and is NOT turning. That the opposite of what's happening in your case.

Try prying it out lightly with a screwdriver while unscrewing it and see what happens. I would be surprised this need enough pressure to break anything.

My 2 cents.

hey neo hows the progress going? hope u had some good luck with it!

paint job will run 300 at maaco for the whole car with clear coat! good deal

yay!!! you must feel pretty good now, knowing that bad boy came out

this maybe tha last time that bolt comes out. if you plan on keeping the car, i'd replace every thing behind it now, you may not a second chance.

How did you or will you make that bolt stay put now ? What was stripped ? The bolt's threads, the crank's thread, or both ?

it was the bolt thread and the pulley, both were messed up. I replaced both plus the crankshaft sprocket. it was a beotch to get it out!! but like i said i had declared war and that thing had to come out...:grin:
