  1. i've got a cherrybomb turboII, sounds great, not excessively loud but u do get to hear to song of the boxer engine nice and clear. oh and this is on a 84'gl, with 2" exhaust from cat->back.
  2. bump....gettin close, 2 weeks! i'll be there sat only cuz of work. but i'll be there all day!!!!! cant wait this is gonna be awesome, hope the wagon can make the trip, its been giving me too much trouble lately, i think ive dumped way to much into this car just fixing things that break, i gave up on making improvements months ago because all my cash had to go into keeping it drivable....we'll see how it goes.
  3. Got any more of these? im itchin to see what happens, i watched all of them last week.
  4. i just ordered a front hub for my '84 wagon off this site. has anyone delt with them before? im just looking for a review or any comments and opinions about them. thanks
  5. is there any deffinative explanation as to why the pop happens during decel, cuz i just swapped from a 1in muffler to a 2 in(rest of exhaust is 2in also) to get better sound, and now it pops all the time during decel.
  6. So here it is, this has to be the " be all end all" clip of the trip. the rover got stuck in it and had to use a block on a 10,000lb winch to get out, then 2 jeeps got stuck and had to be winched out by the rover. so i figured the rover would save me too when i got stuck......to bad i didnt! oh yeah that rover had a scorpion suspension lift, arb air lock rear diff and massive 3ft tall tsl swampers, just to give u an idea of what i was up against. take a look! also you can search around that album to find the vids of the rover and jeeps getting stuck and getting out to get a better idea of how bad the mud really was. http://s107.photobucket.com/albums/m288/RovingClowns/Erics%20Bday%203-24-07/?action=view&current=nickmud.flv
  7. i know this is a little time consuming but it could help, at night when ur not driving the car, jack the rear end off the ground to get all the weight off the springs. if done every once in a while it might help to releive the sag that occured from leaving and engine in the back of ur soob. this is of course only a temporary fix till u get new springs when u get ur soob lifted. im not saying this is a proven method, but it just might help!
  8. ewww noooo i dont like rice, i was going for the more chip foose custom car interior look, not rice. i dont do that, its not my thing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. So i was digging some drainage ditches in my fields with my tractor when it got stuck in the mud, deep mud. Its an older Kubota with rear tires as tall as my 84wagon. the front tires on the tractor were halfway into the ground and the back was about 6in in. the tractor also had a front shovel on it that was weighing it down pretty good. now this thing is really heavy, prob heavier then my wagon so i thought i wouldnt be able to get it out. well i ran back to the house and got my wagon and a tow rope (it stays in the car at all times) and drove back to the tractor. i hooked her up, threw it in 4lo, and dropped the clutch at 3krpms. WOW! that thing ripped the tractor right out and threw mud all over it at the same time! i never thought my wagon would do that! Is there anything these cars can't do?
  11. I HAVE THAT EXACT SHIFT KNOB! although i dont use it anymore, i switched it with the one from my old jetta, metal in the winter is not to fun to shift with, its like grabbing a snowball.
  12. Just so u guys know im registered and paid, have been for a week or 2, i mentioned it up^ there somewhere.....SOOOOOOOOOOOO add me to the list!!!
  13. i would say for that type of distance it would be worth it. you would lose a tremendous amount of rotational weight (the axles, the diff gears, the drive shaft). yes the engine doesnt have to drive them when in 2wd but it still has to get them spinning when the car starts rolling, and keep them spinning when ur driving. thats going to suck up HP and effect your gas milage. I say go for it, what have u got to lose? have fun driving cross country, its quite an experience, i did it with my family when i was younger...in an old VW camper Bus, for two weeks.....it was amazing!
  14. come on guys i know theres more poeple on the east coast!!!!! come and have some fun with ur subies, theres going to be some good mud!!!!
  15. yeah when i got mine they were in pretty poor condition, so i cleaned them up and plan on stripping the old clearcoat, polishing them and putting new clearcoat on. i want these to really shine!
  16. sry it was from a friend so i guess u could say it was limited time offer/while supplies last...hehe, yeah i wish i could get a pair of ssr's but money is tight.
  17. Bridgestone Dueler APT 225/70R14, quiet on the road and highway. good medium duty tire. good traction offroad and in snow. have yet to test them in mud. i know their nothing special but for what i paid ($100 for all 4 90% tread left) i couldnt pass it up.
  18. if those were on the east coast they might be the ones on my wagon, that red one up there^. i got them from another eastcoast member, who might have gotten that set your talking about. the guy's name was Boz (boardname: PHATBRAT) maybe their the only set in the states? i wouldnt know as im new to subies as of this past september. please anyone who knows anything about these rims chime in and let us know their history! im curious becasue i own them!!!
  19. yeah in south jersey we got abot 3 in then an good layer of ice. my driveway (which is about .7 miles long cuz i live on a farm) melted then froze over again so it was 3 in of just ice. it was like driving on a frozen lake, the car would just start going in any random direction and there wasnt anything u could do about it.....i had to throw some chains on the old tractor with a plow and tear that s**t up!
  20. Thanks everyone! i got the wheels from another member who currently doesnt use the forum much his names PHATBRAT. they are subaru wheels they can be found on the wheel page (14in) he sold me the rims and that bumper. the decals on the bottom came on the car when i got it so im not sure if their stock or custom. also i cant really adjust my lights because the plastic clips that the screws thread into are stripped so their pretty much stuck like that. the interior will also be getting black carpet, new shift boot (black) i will paint the steering column and hopefully get a new steering wheel. i will also be painting the rest of the interior too and getting a similar cover made for the rear seat.... dont worry it will all match by the time i get it to carlisle.
  21. sand with emory pad or medium grit sand paper. clean with any degreaser or clenser. 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of enamel. took my time and did it all in about 3 days. i used rustoleum prefessional finish paint. it dries alot quicker and has a much tougher finish. the key is to just take your time. i dissasembled the entire dash first so it was easier then taping it off and the paint even covers what you dont see in the pics. oh and i even patched that really nasty hole right under the clutch pedal....fiberglass is my friend!
