  1. wow i cant wait for this show. i have yet to see an xt6 so seeing one like Rocky as my first makes me all giddy inside! i too plan on doing a big unvailing of my car. ive been doing a lot of work on the interior and i cant wait to show it off!!!!, ive only got the front done, but it already looks like a brand new car! so i cant wait to show everyone all my hard work, this show is gonna be great!
  2. the pitch stopper is a rod that sits right under where your spare tire mounts on top or the engine. it bolts to the engine block and the body of the car and keeps the engine from moving (pitching) forward and backwards. if its loose the engine and tranny will move and possibly allow your trans to hit the floor boards. it has 2 adjusting nuts that hold washers and rubber bushings. either their not tight enough, or the bushings have worn out and possibly need replacing, or u could just tighten it even more to compress the rubber. just my 2 cents!
  3. Hope these help, sry i didnt remover the heater core assembly, but i really had no need. as for tips.....take ur time, i put all bolts and screws in plastic bags for each side of the car, marked all wire connectors with sharpie markers so i know how they all go back together, as for those top screws along the wind shield, a regular 10mm ratchet squeezes in fine for the outer too but for the middle one i had to make my own tool, i used a 10mm socket and a bent flat head screwdriver to get it in there. im sure a regular 10mm wrench would work just fine though(something i didnt have).
  4. im taking my dash out now, i can get pics of it tomorrow. anything specific?
  5. yeah i found the leak, there a couple of good sized rust holes up near the bottom of the windshield. im removing the entire dash to look for any more, the water was only dripping down in that corner of the car so my cluster is ok, no moisture. thanks guys. its gonna be a long night!
  6. its a regular dash not digi. i checked all fuses, and the fusible links, they are all good, thats why i posted, usually i can figure these things out, but this ones really got me. guess i'll check the fusible links with a volt meter, sometimes a visual check just isnt enough. thanks guys.
  7. '84 ea81 GL wagon. started the car, was holding rpms at 3k to warm it up a bit (20 deg outside, but in a garage), about 30 sec in i revved it up to 6k for just a sec, then the dash died, everything but the speedo of course. even my 4wd light wont come on anymore (kinda odd considering its just a switch and a light, but ok). so i look in the fuse box and of course theres no dash fuse and none of the others are out. thanks in advance! -Nick *edit* ok so i got under the dash and started looking around well i pulled out my fuse box and ECU module, and when i flipped the ECU over.....water poured out! so it looks like i need a new one, also there was another small control module bolted to the bracket for the hood release. it has a mitsubishi symbol on it, any ideas as to what it might be? its just a small black box with a 6 prong conection in one side. it also got wet but i have yet to pry it open and see how bad it is. heres some pics of the ECU:
  8. the arrow has to be pointing in the direction of the flow of fuel. pointing towards the hose that goes to the carb. if its a filter with 3 hoses the supply hose (from the fuel pump and gas tank) goes to the back of the arrow and the 3rd hose is your vapor seperator hose.
  9. sry to hear bout the accident, at least ur still here, head-ons can be mighty scary. hope u get well soon. everyone on the boad will do what they can to help. hey i had a friend who had a hip replacement, he could barely walk before he had it....now he runs and plays tennis everyday, and hes in his 70's!
  10. who u kiddin, get the whole car....that will buff right out...... i dont now anything about whether or not it'll work, but im sure with enough fabrication, time, and a lot of patience u could do it. i say go for it. u got nothin to lose, u might just end up with the first ej25t brat in the world for all i know.
  11. heres the site that sells the adapter. its the last one at the bottom of the page. http://www.jameng.com/products/index.phtml?section=14
  12. haha im running 225/70R14 on my 84 wagon with no lift and just a little trimming, only rubs when my steerings at full lock doesnt rub any other time......so u should do just fine
  13. haha yeah that sounds awesome, i just read the articals in my car n driver and road n track. its pretty awesome. might as well use a sube...light on gas especially when u gut the car and save weight. could use an old hatch, it would be perfect. and we all know their pretty indestructable! good luck!!!!
  14. what would be the easiest way to lift the front end about 3-4 inches? i dont have a welder or access to one or i would have gotten my own steel stock and gone that route, can i buy any generic stuff from a home depot or something, and just put a piece of pipe above the strut and extend the bolts. im out of a job for now and short on cash. but i want to do it the right way.
  15. yeah i do, im planning on drilling mounts on the top of the bumper to mount them, just have to get around to doing it sometime. Hey Paul! how u been. i was just talkin to Neo the other day about planning another trip soon, it would be nice if we could get some snow down here, make it a little more interesting! I thought the bumper was gen 1 cuz i saw it in the old brochures they have pics of on this site. but yeah i havent seen it any any other cars except the one in the brochure. i got the wheels and bumper from PHATBRAT "Boz". dont know where he found them though. anyway, we should plan another east coast meet somtime.
  16. ok been doin lots of work, and heres the final result. all i have left to do is lift the front to match up to the rear and mount my new rims and tires! its a gen 1 bumper on my 84 GL wagon.
  17. oh sry my bad...just read title "ea82's are expensive" oh well, good luck!
  18. smoke from that area is usually just stuff burning on ur cat..if ur working on the engine debris can fall ontop and then it just burns and smokes for a while. just a suggestion, its not necessarily the problem, just had to put it out there.
  19. yeah thats pretty much it, i just replaced the one on my wagon a couple months ago. it can be hard to get through the fire wall. when ur taking out the old one just cut it. but the new one ur gonna have to work with a little, the ends have fittings that screw into ur tranny and into ur instument cluster. whichever is smaller is the one u want to thread through. and make sure it has as straight a path as possible, u dont want to many bends or have it rubbing against something too hard, that'll wear it out fast cuz the cable will rub the inside of the housing. other then that its pretty simple.
