Add another lifted wagon to the list! My 91 Loyale, "Uggo", finally has the lift that it needed so badly. It has a 3.5" Ozified lift (actually more like 3.75 F and 4.25 R) and 225/70R14 (26.5") Destination AT's. I've also equipped it with dual stick and cb.

So you're one of those light blue loyales that there are so many of running around boulder eh.... I've owned two of them at various times (and two light blue EA81's too), but currently no blue ones in my fleet...

Yes yes. Uggo will sport only the ugliest color that Subaru ever put out. It's the slight nuances like this that earn my automobile the destinctive title of Uggo. I've seen your pics and your wagon looks super cool(a lift would make it even cooler):cool: . My tires still rubbed a bit even with a slightly monsterous lift. I had to do minor trimming.

Your car looks great. I just put destination a/t's on my brat. I love those tires. Super quiet and they do great in the snow.

I want a lifted EA82 wagon:( They look so cool especially with some offroading lights on the front or across the roof.But every potential I find gets bought out from under me. Thought about lifting my Imp alittle ..but why dump money into a rotbox.

You know, for that size tire, a person doesn't rally **need** all that much lift; the car would IMHO look a little better if it sat a little lower, so the wheels filled the wells. In your opinion, what would the minimum lift for that size tire be? Like a 2", plus maybe clocking the torsion bar a spline and cranking the stock suspension up all the way? OR would I need more?

I don't think the loyale has a torsion bar. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that is earlier cars.

Only the EA81s and earlier have a torsion bar. The EA82 series use coils instead.

 

Sure those tires may not fill the wells, however, it probably requires less bashing to keep things from rubbing.

hey man i made blocks out of round nylon scrap i got at work. you can easly get 2 inches of lift by blocking the strut springs without any camber issues. ill try to get some pics if you need.., reguards Ivan

There's actually only 5" between the fender and the tire in the front. I'm going to lower the rear an inch or so, so the tire will be sitting at about 6" from the fenderin the rear. I think I could have gotten away with a 2" lift, but the would be much more trimming with the pugs (offset) and less clearance. Here are some better (?) pics to show the clearance arrangement. The toolbox under the diff is about 2 ft x 10 " tall. There's also a pic or my hi-lo shifter. [/img]' alt='a>'>

You know: I question the reasoning behind criticizing someone's ride. This whole thing is about building/doing what you want and what meets your specific needs. I certainly would not build something to meet with someone else's approval.

 

BTW: mine is up 7" on 31" tires, and no, I'm not offering, or waiting, for your approval!

I certainly didn't mean what I wrote to be translated as being negative about it. I just meant that, to my eyes, what might another set of circumstances result in? And for what it's worth, positive feedback and kudos are criticism as well; they're just forms of criticism that we like to hear. If I were to be so rude as to tell somebody, "Dude, your ride's butt-ugly and you have all the taste and restraint of a raccoon on meth," that'd be a different story. Perhaps I should have chosen a different thread in which to ask my questions.

 

However, since I have proved my ringingly poor social skills and 'satiable curiosity already, I've got to ask: Ahole, how did you do that hi-lo shifter? That's a super-sano install, and something I think I'm going to copy because it looks so ***************in.'

Thanks, man! I just disconnected the hi-lo switch on the side of the tranny from the 4wd shifter linkage. Then I used a 4' piece of 3/8" steel rod. I welded a bolt on the end to screw into the original ball swivel/ hi-lo shifter mount thingie. Then cut a hole in the tranny tunnel below where I wanted to mount the shifter, making it long and skinny to allow movement. Then, using trial and error methods, I bent the bar so it went from the hi-lo swith to the hole. The bar has a 90* bend at the end so it enters the cabin about an inch or so. After satisfaction with the routing of the steel bar, I welded a nut to the end (interior). I then made a shifter out af a (broken) breaker bar handle with two holes about an 1 1/2" apart, and a piece if 1/8" steel strap, and other various parts that you can figure out yourself if you made it this far. dude thats an awsome shifter for a dual range tranny. i hate the stock one its way to close to the main shifter
