usually when they run an EA-81 they run the prop off the front of the crank, thats a pretty neat set up and the exhaust is pretty basic too.

I dont think ive ever seen an Aviation EA81 with the prop in the front, i've always seen gear reduction box's on the rear of the crank, then attatched to the prop.

 

Anyone notice the Sube in the background too?

It looks pretty clean for a soobie engine. They work well in airboats, too.

Yeah that was a clean motor. as for the carb icing, don't they usually exhaust heat to keep it from icing, EGR?

Yeah - there's an exhaust heat sheild, and a riser "stove pipe" tube that delivers warm air from around the exhaust pipe into the air box. After the engine heats up, this is bypassed to get cooler, denser air via a thermovacuum operated flap on the intake of the air box.
