Is it ok to use an aftermarket fuel filter?

 

 

I have on several replacements on Subies, and had no problem.

I have been using Fram filters (fuel, air and oil) for many years, on several vehicles.

 

The only filter-related problem that I can recall, was a blocked fuel-filter due to dirty fuel (i.e. the filter worked!).

Is it ok to use an aftermarket fuel filter?

Probably; I used a purolator one once. You can compare the 'nominal' filtration level if the data is available; usually it's about 20um.

I typically use Purolator or Wix fuel filters. Never had a problem.

 

Oil and air usually OEM first choice, then Purolator or Wix - depending on where I'm going to get parts.

I run wix on everything or Car Quest (made by WIX) NAPA filters are also made by wix. WIX also makes many OE filters (I don't know if they make Subaru ones though).

ya know, with all the decisions we have to make on our cars, fuel and oil filters don't have to be one of them-I just use OE (made by purolator or whoever) and it just frees up the rest of my day to search endlink manufacturers.
