February 3, 200818 yr That is sick. I really like it. Is it still turbo? Doe that tailgate open? Please tell me a lift is coming. Got the driveline done? I've wanted to do a similar chop. I wanted to chop at the right distance to connect the front driveline portion directly to the Rear diff. IIRC The flanges are the same size:cool:
February 3, 200818 yr Author turbo=yes tailgate=no, welded on, might redo it later to open lift=maybe, not sure yet, leaning towards probably driveline=its done, 4wd works awesomely, just used the front piece-will get pics i want to go off roading with some other subarus sometime soon.
February 3, 200818 yr Is the wheel base as long as the wheel width. whats your turn radius ? even w/out a lift that thing will probably go through some ************e good job.
February 3, 200818 yr Author Is the wheel base as long as the wheel width. whats your turn radius ? even w/out a lift that thing will probably go through some ************e good job. wheel base is 72 inches exactly from hubcenter to hubcenter. not sure about width. turning radius=very tight, like one lane style... and yes it goes like crazy. with those tires and 8 inches of snow i was climbing stuff that had me scared of rolling without any traction problems. its seriously unreal.
February 3, 200818 yr Author Oh no..... you broke it!!!!! That is going to turn some heads! yes, yes it does...
February 3, 200818 yr That thing lifted would go anywhere. That is the coolest thing In the world. Jeff
February 3, 200818 yr Picture 45... Don't tell me the things tech screwed together??! Nah, I see the reinforcing and welds there.. Looks interesting..
February 3, 200818 yr if its built sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of off roading... should be a fun rig once you get some lift and tires under it
February 3, 200818 yr Author the screws are for the 3"wide strip of sheet metal that fills the gap between the crossmembers. then theres seamsealer ontop of that. lets see... welds. under the door you can see a spot thats ground off-thats welded on both sides of the car(ill look for a pic), then the bracing underneath, then the cage is attached severely at the bottom of the front of the door(pic again)and on the wheel well and in the "bed" and up the windshield post and across. its pretty hardcore actually. ill find more pics.. and im glad that people seem to like it as much as i do:banana:
February 4, 200818 yr good work on the exhast that should help clearance, a TURBO y pipe would do the same I like the look of the rear good Job, I would like to do that on a my new maroon car
February 4, 200818 yr man if you can get it to look like the concept....just clean it all up, that thing would be gnarly
February 4, 200818 yr what about after the lift modify your radiator so it fits horiztal above the engine.in the space the spare tire sits..then you could trim alot off the front end.
