Reinforced the bumper and installed oh yeah tried to keep it looking pretty stock and it gets crazy looks

looks like a very nice install to still keep the original bumper and conceal it well.

I have a snatch block for it and I have flat pulled my buddies suzuki samurai across the cul du sac.

I have did some engineering to get it to work and fit behind the bumper even my wife pregnant as she is helped me to.

cant wait to try it out and bring it to USMB this year.

woo hoo alas I cant spend anymore money for awhile

but more to come.

It is a 3000lb winch

:dead::eek: talk about unsafe! snatch block her up at least...... have you seen what happens when you also push those cables and snap them!!! make sure you lay a heavy coat or a winch weight on that line, so it deflects some of the kinetic energy downwards and doesn't chop your head off...... those cables store a lot of energy, when they break they are disasterous, double the weight is not only a good idea, it should be mandatory for safety... another reason to go synthetic line also... synthetic doesn't snap and spring like a cable when you break it or the winch... good luck... your car weighs 3k on the flat ground, how much do you think the pull weight is up an embankment??

otherwise looks good... remind me to stay back a 100 feet or so from you winching! awesomework.gif

i put a 3000 on my car and funny thing is.... i broke it today :( but it wasent the cable or the motor i snapped the release handle off it :( but ill fix it it works great tho i wrapped it over a junk car the other day and pulled it on to its side to put wheels on it :) but yeah im gonna get me an 8000 pound hoowah there on craigslist all the time for 3 and 400 bucks.

Any body have any experience with a hydraulic winch something run off a power steering pump?

The reason I went with 3000 is because of weight I start putting a bigger one on and my poor ea82 and suspension would probably start hollering at me it is only for emergency situations Im hoping to lincoln lock the back for muddy situations but it is only for emergencies most of the time I ever get stuck I only need a push and I seem to be free.

synthetic rope is in the future I still love the way the hiding look is and the people faces that see it is picture perfect

That looks like the same HF winch I mounted on top of my bumper!

Just a note... the thing is mostly useless... I got it to pull people out of snow drifts during the winter, but this winter hasn't been that bad... also, the thing is not water proof. I haven't had mine on too long, but it no longer works. The relay clicks when you hit the remote, and the motor moves when you jump it... something in between is borked...

Anyway, nice stealthy set-up... Great for pulling ATVs, and maybe your own engine... on board hoist... oh fo sho

They tested one in 4W&OR a few years ago. As I recall they weren't happy with it. They liked the way it worked OK, but it kept burning out the power steering pump on their Ramcharger. I think they went through three or four pumps during the test.

I put a 6000# winch on mine with a big steel tube bumper. The weight has not been a problem for the brat. I cranked the adjuster bolts a few turns, but I actually didn't notice any ride height difference between before the winch and after.

I pulled my buddy across the wet pavement with his brakes on. I just have it for emergencies with a snatch block to double the pull.

mostly all I use is a hi lift anyway If I had to use more I wouldnt want to be there.

but I will be locking the rear

You did a great job on the install!

The only problem I can see is the angle of approach will not be helped by the bumper install.

I have a #2000 on the back of the buggy, seems to work great.

...and I also have a block just-in-case.
