4Wheel Jamboree petition

Featured Replies

OK, Here's the dealio, I was about to enter my '82 Brat in the 4x4 Show and Shine competition at when the 4x4 Jamboree Nationals come to Springfield, MO in a couple of weeks.

I just got off the phone with one of the judges of the event and I am not allowed to enter the Brat because they do not allow it as a 4x4 unless it has a front drive shaft!!

Talk about ticked off!! The consider it to be a 2wd vehicle.

The judge said on the phone that it has to have a front drive shaft, the rules posted on their website say that it has to have both a front and rear differential.

Who's up for joining me in lobbying them for a rule change?

Rules can be found at:

http://67.225.135.158/files/events/4wjsnsrules_10.pdf

The exclusion they're claiming on the Brat is on the first page of that PDF just above the pic of the lifted Chevy

I think this would be better suited as an announcement instead of just a sticky.

Something like this relates to EVERY subaru owner, not just those who chose to off-road em. We all own 4 wheel drive subarus (except the few with FWD only)

See my reply in the OT thread.

Actually call them up, and tell them they need to rewrite the requirements if they don't want to include the brat. Personally i'd have to say they are retarded. You do have a front and rear differential. That is what the spider gears in the front end do. It just so happens that yours is within the transaxle. the differential, differentiates the power from the left and right wheels, your front spider gears differentiate the power. You may not have a seperate differential housing or the proper term, is axle housings (not differentials, the housing does jack crud for differentiating), but it does not specify in that section of the flyer. you have 2 drive shafts/axles in front, if you want to really push your luck. not to mention a bed, selectable 4hi/lo. if they are that much of tight @$$ hicks, let them get all broke back mountain in their own way... not to mention they are recognized as SUV's by fourwheel mag years ago...

what's with the cross posting? thought that wasn't allowed..................

He asked for stickies. It won't hurt to leave them up till he either fails or wins his case. Our help is encouraged, the more this is visible the better. I'm all for him being able to bring his Soob to compete.

Bring it in shifted in 4X. It says it right on the lever, the mudflaps. . .

Heck... here's where an EJ22T swap would be handy... nothin like burning all 4 down the judging strip to prove a point

Whether you get them to change their rules or not..... you aren't going to get them to change their minds. They already have their minds made up as to the "status" of your vehicle. It doesn't even really matter that it's a Subaru, it just matters more that it isn't another one of whatever they are driving. It sounds to me like they found a rule that would apply to you, so that they wouldn't have to let you in.

After looking at the flyer; why would you even want to go? It looks like a bunch of overly billeted trailer queens.... and probably a bunch of guys standing around kissing each others ***es about their new IROKs.

I say ***k 'em. I'd spend that day doing donuts, and drinking beer in the parking lot... just to get dust on the paint they paid WAY too much money for!

Yeah. It confused me a bit as well. It's in the New Post section like 4 times...

At first I wanted to go just for fun... now it's a matter of principle...

i didn't see any IROKs,... i saw some TSL's... but, there is a lot of blinging show rigs.......

put it up on jackstands, engine running, in gear, they willl see all 4 wheels turning, proves it has front and rear driveshafts....oh and that is is 4wd

I think you got my point though ;)

you are already crossthreaded to hell... might as well put the update in all of them............

-shrugs- Guess I can... didn't wanna burn up USMB bandwidth and hosting space by putting the same attachment in both places.

I originally posted this in O/T and Zap stickied it there and here... I'm not familiar with how the back end of these boards work so I didn't know it'd wind up as 2 separate threads like it has

Don't worry. In a day or two I'll merge them all into one thread, then it'll be fun to read. ;)

the judge you talked to is wrong... the rules clearly state:

"What vehicles are allowed: 4-wheel drive vehicles only - no front wheel drive. Must have a front and rear differential."

subarus clearly have a front and rear differential... the front one is just included in the transmission and not detached and separate like on their prefered breeds...

call them back and demand that they let you enter... if they really protest offer to fax them a cross-section of a subaru tranny showing the internal front diff...

and if that doesn't work get as many subaru people as you can together to protest at the entrance...

hehehe... they're currently wading through a 10 page fax that probably burned up all of the toner in their fax machine. I've dropped a full color copy in the mail to them and another is going out to their local head office

3 threads into one... this will be interesting... :):popcorn:
