August 25, 200817 yr White car update Aug 2008 my 88 EA82 white wagon has gone through a few changes since I first lifted it 2-1/2 years ago here it is on its first trip out , I fryed the clutch on that trip chock that up to unskilled dont know how to drive operator, and here it is today ] it now has a weberized EJ22 and bobbed 16" at the rear and Im a much better driver then I was we went out saturday and had a blast, I like the power to weight it has now, the stock EA82 engine just doesnt have the power you need offroad with the 27" tires and the stock dual/range gearing but with the EJ and some lost weight the car goes nicly, will post more later and some Bob details , got any ???s ask away I love this car fututre plans bob the nose, move radiator to behind engine, modify oil pan and exhast for more clearance , this should help the aproach angle, bring the front up to a 5" lift so go up 1-1/2" from where its at, at a spare tire onto rear bumper and add some tube around the rear and front to protect body and lights , add more stickers go wheelin every month the present specs are 3-1/2 inch prototype SJR Alloy lift, EJ22 with Weber carb and Escort Disty, 27 x 950 SSR Swampers 15" Pugs Welded rear diff bobbed 16" dual AM pusher fans CB radio custom bumpers
August 25, 200817 yr Wow! Thats gotta be one of the best chop jobs iv'e seen. Looks like it belongs that way, and most of the body panels are still stait!!!! Mine looks like ive been using trees and rocks to make it smaller.

August 26, 200817 yr it would be interesting to compare power of FI and Carb. I suspect with the limitations of the stock programing you could make the Carb'd motor more powerful?
August 26, 200817 yr you got a carb?? Nothing small enough for a little 2.2 liter. I have a couple in the 750cfm range. I do have a couple extra plates that would work!

August 27, 200817 yr w000t another nice wagon I'm leaning more and more towards carb'd EJ22.. I dont have the time to have my car down for a few days while I do the wiring for fuel injection.

Ive had those tires for 3 years now they are 1/2 gone, very soft tire, wish they were a harder rubber seem to wear fast on such a light car, awesome tire, I would take them off If most your drivings onroad, would like to find something harder like the Hankooks
August 27, 200817 yr Thought so. It just with the US$ like it is its almost the same price buying a set of 27x9.5 and shipping them over here as it is buying a Kumho 27x8.5. Normally Interco tires are $300 to $400 ea compared to the Kumho at $200ea. But if they won't last long, no point in all the hard work getting them Still good for a small offroad only vehicle. August 28, 200817 yr the limitations of the stock programing and those would be? subaru EJ ECUs are very smart and adaptive. ESPECIALLY the OBD II ones. I know a guy who put 8 psi of boost through an otherwise stock OBD II EJ22e. ran awesome, although at 8psi he was maxing out the injectors. so he threw some tleg injectors and a rising rate fpr on there and has been running 10-12. 3 years later, it's still running awesome, just burns a little oil (huh....12 psi on a high-compression motor that already had 200k on it is hard on the rings?)
August 28, 200817 yr For the rear windows you could just hit up a plastics shop (We have "TAP Plastics" here in PDX) And get some 1/8" or so (or even thinner) polycarbonate. I replaced a broken window in my Volvo years ago like that (until I found a good one in the JY) and it worked great. Was cheap, easy to work with, and light.

I like the access on the side as the rear hatch doesnt open anymore, I would like to make covers that open also I might build a barrier behind the rear seat to keep all the gear from coming forward onto the people, the spare tire will be going to the rear bumper .

August 29, 200817 yr Why dont you make hinged doors made of aluminum that seal and a T handle like that of one used to close window sections of truck hatches just a thought
