I'm looking for some 13" wheels for rallyx, but I'm also doing the 6-lug swap. I don't know of any vehicle that came with those specs, and places like summitracing.com don't have anything. Any ideas?

 

Also, I'm having a heck of a time finding 195/55-15 snow tires for the non-rallyx driving that I may do.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt your going to find anything in 6 lug thats 13 inch. But i did have some 6 lug mazda wheels that were 14 inch i sold a while back. I think you could get 14 steel wheels for mazda, toyota, isuzu that would work. But 15inch would get you a better tire selection.

Alot of the old 2wd nissan, Isuzu, mazda, and mitsubishi trucks from the 70's and early 80's had 14 inch wheels with the 6 bolt pattern. For some reason, the 2wd toyotas used a 5 bolt instead of the 6 bolt. Some of the 4wd ones might have 14" ones, but most probably had 15", or even 16" for some.

 

Ipikes (Hankook W409s - my current snow tire of choice) are available in 195/55/R15

You can also buy new 6 lug 14" wheels in various styles... for not much more than a used set of Pugs might cost if you have to ship them from the NW

Chevy Luv have a 6 bolt pattern and 14" rims. Its what I used.

 

For mud terrains, good luck. There are not many available anymore.

I actually just gave in and bought 15" rims for my Ford Sasquatch (Mazda) truck, instead of the 14" ones it came with back in 1976, because I could not find any decent truck tires in 14". Snow tires still seem to be pretty available in the 14" and 13" sizes, at least here, but not the mudders.

BFG makes a decent truck tire, not a mud terrain but an all terrain. And there is always super swampers! In 14"

I just picked up some 2wd mazda truck rims... probably going to go with some AT's rather than a mud tire, though there are MT's out there for 14s...

Why not just drill the wheels, instead of the hubs, so you can always throw the 13's back on? You won't find anything other than snow tires for the 13's, though.

I found rally tires in 13", which is the only thing I'd use them for. That's a good idea, though. I have the 6-lug hubs ready to go on, so all I'd have to do is drill the stock Brat wheels to fit.

I've seen a few wheels break off during rallyx, so I'm not sure if I want to go this route quite yet. Heck, Brat wheels are practically free, so I could afford a few sets to hedge against the eventual wheel breakage.

Seems like a 6 bolt would be less likely to break than a 4 bolt, as long as you welded the old holes full and didn't just leave them when you redrilled the new holes. Or am I missing something?

I've seen two steel wheels fly off a car at the same time. Upon closer inspection, all 5 lugnuts stayed on, but the wheel ripped right around them. I'm kinda worried about that happening more often with more holes in the wheel. I'm not sure if welding the old holes shut will actually help. I think Phizanza has a good reason on his site, but I forget what it is...

I just want them to break the cheapest thing first:-) That being said, I nailed a curb in my fast Subaru hard enough to bounce me back into the middle of the street. Nothing broke.
