February 22, 200917 yr Every time my 1994 EJ18 Impreza is on empty and just about to run out. I seem to get quite a bit of power that I don't see normally even when I have under a 1/4 of a tank. So that means that it can't be a weight issue. Could this mean a bad fuel pump or something?
February 22, 200917 yr Gasoline is about 6 lbs per gallon. It can be just your imagination. Can be the fact your car is thirsty and in a rush to get to its "water fountain" . Don't you always run faster after a workout when you know the bevergae of your choice is there waitng for you, tempting and taunting you? Or it can be that your running rich and you dont know it (tired fuel pressure regulator ? ). nipper
February 23, 200917 yr What size tires do you run? My '94 EJ18 sedan ran fastest on 14" rims; like a stone on 16" rims. I never noticed a difference with different amounts of gas in the tank. Maybe the slight forward shift of weight to the front makes a difference.
February 23, 200917 yr Just for giggles put a fuel pump pressure testor on the car. one enver knows, odder things have happened nipper
February 23, 200917 yr it is possible the engine is running LEAN-er also happens with lawnmowers and chainsaws
February 23, 200917 yr If it were leaning out from fuel starvation, or if it were running rich and just clearing out, wouldn't there be some other symptoms? hesitation, bucking, possible CEL, O2 codes? Anyone?
February 23, 200917 yr Author What size tires do you run? My '94 EJ18 sedan ran fastest on 14" rims; like a stone on 16" rims. I never noticed a difference with different amounts of gas in the tank. Maybe the slight forward shift of weight to the front makes a difference. I have 15" rims. Thats interesting to know. cheers. Is there anything that I can remove to make it lighter. Things that are important?
