Hi all,

Thinking about getting this tool.

I know the rear diff bolt can be done without it but I'm wondering if this tool will prevail over the 1/2".

Thanks

Vincent

for 29$ i'd have a shop break it loose, remove it, wrap the plug threads with teflon tape, and re-torque it to something reasonable that i could loosen.

my difficulty with the rear diff plugs was not being able to swing the breaker bar more than 10-15 degrees. unless the car is overhead, you just can't get a good position on it.

Everyone in the shop here just uses the regular 1/2" drive.

We're talking about a square drive here. There really isnt the amount of "play" that their picture leads you to believe.

I would say to keep your money... I have NEVER seen a diff drain plug strip.

Even with having in possession 4 or 5 subarus at any one given time, I don't need one of these. Heck, this is a drain and fill once for the life of the car in my book, not quite like a 2500/3000 mile oil change interval.

for a job that takes less then 5 minutes its a waste of money.

Personally I wouldnt be spending $29 on one...as long as you get enough leverage a 1/2" Breaker Bar works perfectly...

I've been using this setup, seems to work well. On the Outbacks don't even have to jack it up or put it on ramps, just crawl under there and beat the plugs out.
