EA82 upgraded clutch

Featured Replies

i know a few years back people talked with centerforce about a upgraded clutch disk and stronger pressure plate.

with my EJ22 and 5sp d/r im running the stock EA82 clutch and has been fine since but when i replace it i would like something that grabs a little stronger.

anyone have any part numbers or anything that will interchange front another car make/model for upgrades?

no im running a stock carbed EA82, it holds fine but i would want something better when i will have to replace this one.

and i don't want to run the XT6 its not that much more holding force then the EA82.

Turbo pressure plate and clutch will net you a bit extra.

Best option though is to go XT6. This requires swapping the flywheel too though I believe.

wish they had torque ratings......but no such luck.

I was going to run a spec clutch on my new setup, but then decided to go EJ....

tex, only difference between EA82 and ER27 flywheels is the weight. ER27 clutch will work with an EA82 flywheel perfectly. also, some manufacturers (Beck/Arnley for sure, I've used 2 of their setups in EJ22 swaps) use the same part for turbo or XT6.

so how did your search help me find a AFTERMARKET clutch kit?

so thanks for nothing there.

ive thought of the XT6/EA82T settup but again i would like something in the 600KG range. im gonna contact Spec and see what their clutch disk material is made of ie organic or composite, and what the clamping force is on the pressure plate.

So when you say step, you mean grind the mating surface down to the spec of the other flywheel? and then using say the xt6 clutch it would fit because the clutch is thicker?

yes, the step is the mating surface. yes, it is different between EA82 and XT6. but an ER27 clutch can be used with an EA82 flywheel/dimensions just fine. AFAIK, the only effective difference is the weight.

So its 6 lbs ish lighter? and how about the life of the flywheel do you machine it to er27 new specs?
