Ive been having some problems with my car, so while i was pokein around the engine i found 3 vacumelines undone:eek:. But that didnt solve all of my problems. I found all of these loose wires and was wondering if the good people on the USMB could help me identify them.

This was under the dashboard in the main wire loom.

This was in a wire loom hooked up to the air conditioning.

These were on the vacume lines and i have no idea what the heck they are.

This greasy yellow wire was found behind the water pump pully. It leads into the wire loom just behind where the wire is pictured. Right above the passanger side timeing cover.

These are on the drivers side up buy the fuel filter. I thought this was the d-check terminal but when i connected them all they did was make a buzzing noise over and over again. There is a black and a yellow connection i have no idea where those connect to as well.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok those round metal things are Fuel modulators/Regulator (Those are not vac lines) Notice the cords inside the hose(s) Fuel lines that one runs to the TB.

 

The last picture by the fuel filter, those are for the engine light (Dionastic) Green(s) Black.

 

I forgot where that yellow wire by the WP gos.

PS: If you plug those Engine light wires in and have the key "On" You'll hear a clicking.

I've found on my subaru's that there's often some extra connectors - for options that weren't installed or something?

So the 4 connections up buy the firewall are for diagnostics. If i plug in the green ones and run the car what will happen. It will clear the codes but im trying to run the d check and cant find the right connection to make.

Oh yes that yellow wire is for the oil pressure sending unit, So the DLs doen't have oil PSI gauges?

 

Do not run the car, but turn key to "On" just before ignition. If there are any codes the engine light on ur dash should flash them. if the light stays on then starts flashing non stop then there are no codes.

Shoot because thats what i did. I pluged in the green connectors and checked to see if i had anything flashing and nothing was flashing so no codes. I thought i read in that thread that to erase the codes you need to start the car while the green connectors were plugged in.

Are you maybe thinking of how to clear the EGR light on the EA-81s? Under the dash on the driver's side there's a green connector that's plugged into either a green or blue connector; they're right next to each other. Swap it to the unused connector, start the engine, and the EGR light goes out. Had to do it on mine at roughly 118,500 miles when I swapped out the EGR (which was actually dead), then again at bang on 120,000 when the emissions timer decided it was time to flip the light back on.

Oh I might be thinking of the EA81. Ok sorry for the confusion.

 

Anyhoo, sorry to hear thar bad luck on the EGR (It figures when ur right at the testing station)

about those white and green plugs by the fuel filter:

 

The white one is the Read Memory connector. Connect the white plugs, and any stored error codes will show up on the ECU.

 

Green is the Test or Diagnostic (D) mode connector. With the green plug connected, the clicking is normal, it's the fuel injector clicking.

 

One use is timing - connect the green plug before setting ignition timing... then forget you connected it, drive away, and the check engine light starts flashing 5 minutes later. :)

 

To clear codes: With the ignition on, connect both the white and the green connectors. Drive til the check engine light blinks , then disconnect.

isnt the clicking with the greens together the fuel pump cycling?

 

Don't beleive so, the clicking comes from the engine bay.
