Emission hose

Featured Replies

I learned the hard way the difference between heater hose and emission hose: they fail my smog test with the verdict - "MODIFIED PCV SYSTEM"

Could not find any 5/8'' emission hose anywhere. Had to spend 50 dollars at the Subaru dealer for three foot long pieces.

I hope this information will help somebody.

I've heard nightmares about CA emission inspection. To be that pickey is just insane, stupid, and a few other choice words.

Heater core hose will not withstand motor oil and gasses.

If you need specific types of hose, you need to call someone that does exclusively hoses and fittings. Automotive parts places aren't going to have specialty hose types. You need high temp/oil rated hose for PCV.

I do hate CA. for alot of reasons, one of the big ones is their emission people. but thats just my opinion.

i cant stand california either. i suggest...move, before california falls off into the ocean

I failed inspection in Pennsylvania because of ... bad wiper blades!

this CA crap is just lame, does it vent the gases to the right place? yes

will it hold up over time, no, but it will take quite a while

it's like, some knee jerk fail by some idiot that doesn't know what they're looking at - no common sense in a bureaucracy

what actually came out of the tail pipe? was everything other than that functioning?

my first impression of CA was formed on an Army bus, I was looking at the pretty beaches - but my view was constantly blocked by signs that said

'no parking' 'no fires on beach' 'no pets without leash' 'park closed after dusk' 'gate closed at dusk' 'no alcohol' 'no overnight camping' etc etc

on and on they went, every 100 yards there was some damn sign

later, when I'd get off post for a weekend I'd try to go camping - it was the same thing in the hills and mountains - for just a second you'd think you were someplace untread - but then you'd find some damn sign telling you what to do, or not do, or no trespassing, or no camping etc etc

move to a free country, let CA go, it's already going to collapse under it's own weight if the fault doesn't get it first

sorry for the rant, but this CA emissions stuff keeps popping up, and people are being failed for stupid crap that doesn't seem to actually affect the quality or composition of the exhaust -

maybe if you had painted the heater hose with krylon plastic paint - flat black - the labeling would have been gone and it wouldn't have attracted their attention, but that's a painful lesson and hindsight

sorry you got burned

CarQuest carries all sizes of Evap hose, heater hose, and trans hose.

they are my go to hose source

I will stop by and see what they have for future, but as of now it is too late to return used hoses to the dealer.

Thanks,

Sam

my Oreilly's auto had nothing at all for my Brat, no fuel hoses in the correct size, no vacuum lines of the correct size/length, no coolant lines, etc etc. They are worthless.

I ordered coolant hose off Ebay, and found the breather hoses in the Ag fertilizer section of a farm and home store (Theisens).

Arizonas Emissions stuff isnt too picky, they are about the tailpipe emissions, but as far as vehicle inspection goes, not so much, because if you saw my engine compartment, you will fail me instantly.
