July 28, 200916 yr DO IT! Project Phoenix Damaged BRAT. Bob rear Shorten front. Move radiator and gas tank into the bed.
July 28, 200916 yr So Sad Accident, but I am Glad to Read that you`re OK! Also, I Agree with This: ...She doesnt have to die yet though! To take care of the body damage ... I have Seen Worse Damaged Cars Being Nice Repaired or Transformed as Suggested. Kind Regards.
July 28, 200916 yr Author on a lighter note... Here is are some pictures of a FAIL-arri that I took yesterday while looking over my BRAT. Note the ridiculous badging.
July 29, 200916 yr Could you give a Li`l bit More information about that Fail-rrari, Please? Kind Regards.
July 29, 200916 yr Author Insurance company estimates it will cost $2518.07 to repair. so it's a total loss. Will keep you posted about how I do w/the other parties insurance company.
July 29, 200916 yr Hey Bosco: I would recommend that you consider settling the property damage seperately from any bodily injury stuff. That way you can really make sure you're ok and you can hold that over them while they decide how much to offer you for the brat. When our volvo got destroyed I printed out about 50 craigslist ads for similar vehicles and flooded them with info. Obviously the brat will be a different story. I would also ask what the insurance limits are for the person who hit you. Thats always good info to have. I would also consider writing a "letter of demand" to describe the story of your brat and how unique it was, and state how much you would settle the property damage claim for. Your work on that thing is pretty well documented and this can be used to your advantage. Sorry to throw all this stuff at you, I hope it helps. Daniel
July 30, 200916 yr Oh no! I'm sorry for your poor car. It was such a clean Brat...not even rusting in the bed...such a shame. If you're buying it back from the insurance maybe I'll think up some parts I need...*cough*rear*inner*fenders*cough* I'm going to be around there for a week in September...we'll have to hang out anyways. ~Erik~
July 30, 200916 yr Crockette's right. Don't settle the bodily injury portion for a couple months, seriously. Insurance Co's do not have to disclose their limits, but min Med in CA is $30K. Check the Brat sales database sticky by EdRach for valuation backup. r/ P K
July 30, 200916 yr Author when to a local subbie dealer near me to try and establish desirability. They were not able to provide me with any numbers. I did find this little near by. It's currently not registered and has NV plates. In all reality I do not need another car so I think I will just simmer down a bit focus on house buying and studying for the LSATs. BW
July 30, 200916 yr Here's an ad I would send them for the high end. Daniel http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/1296336464.html
July 31, 200916 yr !!!! I am sooo sorry... That really sucks. If you need any info, I should still have some paperwork lying around here from my accident. (Edrach sent me some stuff that was IMMENSELY helpful) I have an 85 BRAT. Twitch PS: Is the topper ok? If so, I'm interested...
August 1, 200916 yr when to a local subbie dealer near me to try and establish desirability. They were not able to provide me with any numbers. I did find this little near by. It's currently not registered and has NV plates. Heh, i tried to buy that same wagon up here, but the seller backed out. Best wishes with the claim. I hate seeing this kind of stuff
August 5, 200916 yr Author Insurance called me and they want to offer $1,300 or so for the total loss and the buy back would be about $150.00 This is for the loss of the vehicle and not the medical portion. I have about $100 out of pocket for ER expenses and I have $280 tow yard bill. I realize that Ed got them for almost 4,000, but his was in really nice condition. Mine is mechanically good, but cosmetically it is rough. Should I try and establish market value here or just take the money. If I were to sell it private party before the accident, I probably would get maybe $2000 for it. thoughts opinions?
August 5, 200916 yr Donlt take it!!! I got around $2100 for mine, with by far worse rust than yours. You could easily get $3k for yours. Don't let'm yank you around. Twitch
August 5, 200916 yr Author twitch was that for both parts of your claim, the medical and the property damage?
August 6, 200916 yr Nope, just property loss. They originally valued the car at less than $500 I didn't have any medical reimbursement. Twitch
