Glad you're alright S'ko - so sorry about the Brat.

And hey! what's with the picture message you sent me of the Fail-rarri? LOL

I'll call you in a couple days, rest well. r/ PK

Hey Bosco:

I would recommend that you consider settling the property damage seperately from any bodily injury stuff. That way you can really make sure you're ok and you can hold that over them while they decide how much to offer you for the brat. When our volvo got destroyed I printed out about 50 craigslist ads for similar vehicles and flooded them with info. Obviously the brat will be a different story.

I would also ask what the insurance limits are for the person who hit you. Thats always good info to have. I would also consider writing a "letter of demand" to describe the story of your brat and how unique it was, and state how much you would settle the property damage claim for. Your work on that thing is pretty well documented and this can be used to your advantage.

Sorry to throw all this stuff at you, I hope it helps.

Daniel

Oh no! I'm sorry for your poor car. It was such a clean Brat...not even rusting in the bed...such a shame. If you're buying it back from the insurance maybe I'll think up some parts I need...*cough*rear*inner*fenders*cough* I'm going to be around there for a week in September...we'll have to hang out anyways.

Crockette's right. Don't settle the bodily injury portion for a couple months, seriously.

Insurance Co's do not have to disclose their limits, but min Med in CA is $30K.

Check the Brat sales database sticky by EdRach for valuation backup.

when to a local subbie dealer near me to try and establish desirability.

They were not able to provide me with any numbers.

I did find this little near by.

It's currently not registered and has NV plates.

In all reality I do not need another car so I think I will just simmer down a bit focus on house buying and studying for the LSATs.

Insurance called me and they want to offer $1,300 or so for the total loss and the buy back would be about $150.00

This is for the loss of the vehicle and not the medical portion.

I have about $100 out of pocket for ER expenses and I have $280 tow yard bill.

I realize that Ed got them for almost 4,000, but his was in really nice condition. Mine is mechanically good, but cosmetically it is rough. Should I try and establish market value here or just take the money. If I were to sell it private party before the accident, I probably would get maybe $2000 for it.

thoughts opinions?
