  1. Just get a reman short block from Subaru - 3 yr/ 36k warranty. About $2250. Don't even bother with used engines. The pricing on used engines and the warranty on the reman's make used engines a poor choice. Read about the main journal clearances that I posted above - you really want to put in a 150k engine? GD
  2. Pretty normal. Depends on when you took the reading. A high reading MAF at idle is indicative of it being dirty. Negative idle trims and positive cruise trims are typical of dirty MAF and/or dirty air filter. GD
  3. The following is from a previous post. Being all wheel drive the gear ratio must match what you take out. Posted August 23 I also use this web site https://www.hollanderparts.com/ to find parts. Look up your vehicle then enter your zip code to sort closest to you. transmission - transaxle. Get the number on the sticker located on the bell housing above the starter or from the plate on the strut tower and using the chart in the attachment you can identify your transmission and a replacement. The first 7 digits are the important ones. I found this chart somewhere when I needed a tranny for our 95 Legacy. TZ102ZA----
  4. Yep. It was almost 15 years ago, so a lot has changed, but mostly still relevant.
  5. If you got a coil from Autozone that could be the issue too. The aftermarket ones they sell are junk. You are better with a used Subaru one. I have worked on Subarus only for 14 years and have only replaced a couple. They had burnt terminals from crappy wire sets being installed.
  6. Drivers side is up. No error there. Found a vac line off, and when I went into old school mechanic mode and started checking plugs for fouling I found my plugs desperately needed replacing. Replaced plugs, connected vac line and it ran pretty good. Hit it with a timing light (with the green plugs connected) and set to 20 BTC. Runs pretty good now. Have new cap and coil for it to put on next, since both are likely 30+ years old.
  7. my rx was much improved from the addition of the intercooler, but then again, it was a freaking huge front mount and i did have the td04 turbo on it as well.
