Blower motor resistor 'blow by blow'?
edrach replied to gcleeton's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe resistor pack is meant to be in the air flow for cooling; if the air flow is restricted in any way, the resistors will overheat and fail pre-maturely.

alt not charging... charge, brake fluid, e-brake, stop lamp are all lit...
Sounds like the alternator again. How old is your battery? If it's more than 5 years old, I'd suggest replacing that since there's a possibility that an intermittant open circuit inside the battery could cause the alternator to fail. While you're at it, make sure both heavy wires and connections to the battery are good and tight at both the battery end and car ends.

How much should i torque down the oil pan bolts?
I'd have to check the manual, but it's around 12 ft-lbs if I remember correctly. Which engine are we talking about? It shouldn't make a difference, but it might.

need key made for 91 awd legacy
edrach replied to 86subaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf the Legacy is like the earlier Subaru models, remove the door panel from the front passenger door and check the lock cylinder on that side. The key code was stamped into the side of the lock cylinder on the older models; maybe it still is.

How the heck do I put a CD player in a Brat??
A standard size DIN will fit in the normal console (I have one) and in the slanted one also.

CV boot/axle $$$
edrach replied to Jman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'd consider having it done in Canada...would likely cost you less. What part of Jersey are you in. I grew up in Irvington and Union and lived in Rockaway before moving to Delaware and then out here. I remember the state fondly....I must have logged 50K miles just rallying.

Still need help! update..see last post..
By the way, two new Subarus showed up at Lynnwood today. A 87 sedan and a 90 wagon. Both looked like they had SPFI throttle bodies.

Help!!! Getting Angry
I'll echo the thanks for the service and welcome to the USMB. We've got a lot of folks in the Seattle area so you should be able to find some help there. You might check http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/ and do a search for subaru. I have seen free or very low cost cars there on occaision. Best of luck to you.

EA81 Rear Swaybar - Which to Use?
You'll have to ask others that question. What I do know is if you use the Turbo 'bar you'll have to trim a few inches off each end and weld the support tabs from the donor car to the swingarms of your brat. Don't know about the XT6 'bar.

Car Was Rear-Ended - What to Check?
Take it to a body shop that you trust. I got rear ended in my Legacy wagon last year. Only mark on the bumper was the imprint of his license plate....it cost $600 to repair (underneath was damaged more and then the refinish.....etc. Also, be sure to have your wife see a doctor or chiropractor to be sure everything is okay. It took about 5 months of 3X/week visits before my neck was back to normal.

EA81 Rear Swaybar - Which to Use?
That $250 included AIR freight shipping from Oz which took all of 4 days after I ordered it. However, the cheapest way to go will be to pull a bar off of a EA82T turbo wagon and modify it to fit your car.

EA81 Rear Swaybar - Which to Use?
Try http://www.whiteline.com.au/default.asp?page=/yourcar.htm for information. I believe the p/n for my Brat was BSR-41. WJM can get you information on pricing. When I ordered mine, I was in a rush and ordered air from Australia....total cost with shipping was around $250 if I remember correctly. You might try 84SOOB who has a similar rear bar from an American manufacturer I believe. Also the rear bar from an EA82T will work but requires modification and welding on the brackets to your rear swingarms. I have one of those which I'll bring to WCSS7 along with the brackets for a prepaid order. The Whiteline bar does do the trick; my Brat corners much flatter than before and I'm not bothered with the huge understeer at rallycross any more.

New Girl representing 4 the Older Generation of Subarus
In July, http://www.westcoastsubarushow.com/ Check out the Meet/Greet Forum for more info and caravans to WCSS7. It's in Shelton, WA; not exactly local to you, but 3 hours is a short drive for a WEST COAST show.

What can i expect on I-84 from SLC toward WCSS location
It's all interstate. Having driven it a few times going to Albuquerque and back, the section north of SLC is usually trafficked until you get past Ogden (but watch for radar). There's a cutoff to the NW just before crossing into Idaho which will save you some miles which is quite lonely. The section through Idaho gets traffic around the major cities and is quite boring. Once you get into Oregon, it will get pretty and quite hilly in spots (the section just before Pendelton is quite steep and truckers can lose their brakes easily there). Past Pendelton, it's quite boring until you get to The Dalles when it pretties up a lot. Take I-205 north as you approach Portland to save a few miles again; lots of facilities along here and traffic too. You'll merge with I-5 shortly after crossing into Washington. Interesting ride. Once you get into Idaho, you're less than 12 hours drive from Shelton.

Brooklyn RallyCross results are posted--Pics added 7/5
Yes, clean runs make a difference. What pleased me was running near best time for the morning session. The course kept getting smoother and faster as we went on. The entry for this event was totally different from what I see in Hillsboro. And I didn't see most of these cars at Hillsboro the next day. But it was certainly fun.

Austin, I'm glad to hear you arrived safely with no worries other than crappy gas mileage. Best of luck and maybe we'll see you at WCSS7.

Is this outrageous?
edrach replied to rdp5008outback's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo you have rear disks in your Impreza? If so, the high pitched squeal you hear might be the wear indicator dragging on the disk. Pull your rear wheel and just check how much lining is left on the pads. In answer to your question, it certainly sounds high; I don't think a rear bearing should take more than a couple hours labor plus the cost of the part. I'm not a mechanic and I certainly haven't done a rear bearing on an Impz before, but I'd get some other estimates first before comitting to that kind of money.
