  1. Boneyard is your best bet. Get me the model and year of your car and I can look for a suitable one for you next time at PAP.
  2. My suspicion is you have a funky rpm sensor since both the tach and scan tool rpm read the same. Only way to tell is to use an external tach measuring rpm off the harmonic balancer. As to the difference in transmissions check the table on transmissions in the USRM (link posted earlier).
  3. If you're looking for higher revs in the rally car for a given speed, go with a tranny with a a 4.11 rear and matching rear diff. Also, go with a smaller diameter tire. The advantage of both of these changes is more acceleration which is what you want in your rally car. There are a number of potential donor sets among the Imprezas and Legacies that will get you there.
  4. Speed increase IS a direct relation to engine rpm if you are in the same gear for both measurements.
  5. Check out the transmission ratios in the USRM (http://www.northursalia.com/techdocs/trannychart/trannychart.pdf) to select which gearbox you might want. Physically most of the EJ22 boxes are interchangeable and the biggest difference you will see would be going from a 3.9 to a 4.1 rear.....but even that is not very significant.
  6. Something is definitely wrong here: for a 33% increase in speed (60 to 80) you see about a 130% increase in RPM in the same gear....something doesn't compute here. My bet is that the 1600 RPM at 60 is incorrect.
  7. So after all this, other than OEM, anyone have suggestions for better air filters. I'm considering changing back to paper after wiping out one MAF.
  8. Really great stuff. Thanks for posting this.
  9. Subie Gal takes 3rd overall in Trail's End Rally (part of OTR I guess). Here's the scoop: The leaderboard for the Trails End Regional Rally is as follows: Car 207 Hintz/Hintz 38:54.0 Car 649 Crane/Grahn 39:54.8 Car 215 Thomas/Bohn 40:49.0 Congrats to Car 207 Hintz/Hintz and Car 215 driver Jamie Thomas - it has been more than a year since the Hintz brothers had rallied together and it has been more than a year since Thomas competed. Thomas and Bohn "grenaded" their transmission on the super special, but it held together enough to get to the finish.
  10. Travis Pastrana take Oregon Trail Rally. http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=results_overall
  11. Jason at Mike Scarf Subaru in Auburn, WA. He knows what he's doing and has never failed to find the part I need or given me the best price on genuine OEM parts. Toll free: 1-866-528-5282
  12. Surprising overall results: http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=results_overall Very good finish for Paul Eklund. Subaru finishes 1st, 4th and 5th EVO finishes 2nd and 3rd
  13. Latest update as of 2pm today: http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=live_updates There was some kind of delay and the event is running about 90 minutes later than expected. More updates as of 6:32PM. More of the "big guns" have DNF'd.
  14. I didn't know you read "bar code." Cool. My, you have sharp eyes!
  15. On a personal note, I haven't seen Marc Goldfarb in over 25 years (I used to compete with him "back in the day" on the east coast). I wouldn't recognize him if I met him on the street. He sure looks focussed; he was very good then and has certainly gotten better. http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=photos&pic=2414&gallery=66
  16. Great pics! http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=photos Nice pic of Subie Gal. I'll have to ask Jamie what the design on her roof means. http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=photos&pic=2406&gallery=66 Another shot of Subie Gal on SS4: http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=photos&pic=2366&gallery=66
  17. More updates: http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=live_updates Subie Gal leading her class!
  18. http://www.rally-america.com/event.Oregon.2008.php?section=results_overall So far Ken Block and Andy Pinker are out of it. Local driver, Mark Tabor is also a DNF. Paul Eklund of Primitive Racing is doing well in his new STi,
  19. Buy a second set of rims and drive summer tires for 8 months of the year and winter tires during the winter. Hankook is the way to go: there K106 is a great summer tire which works well in the rain. And their Winter i-Pike is an excellent winter tire. Both are very reasonably priced. Both Tirerack and Discount Tire sell these online.
  20. Blue and teal are similar; looks like they are both still there. Thanks.
  21. Sorry, hours are 9am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Worth a look if you're up here.
  22. So, did you see the two Imprezas? Just curious if they were still there, a blue '94 and a white '98.
  23. Happy Birthday, sparkster. Trust me, you're only as old as you think you are. Think young!
  24. Walking the yard at Lynnwood PAP yesterday and found a set of alloy wheels on a Legacy wagon that you normally only see on an XT6. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me at the time. There were a 5 spoke wheel where the spokes sort of curve around and spread at the rim. They are reasonably rare and if someone wants them, they were still there yesterday on a blue Legacy wagon about four cars in from the east fence. No hubcaps for them that I could see.
  25. No offence taken....altho I was thinking about it:) . Anyway, no harm no foul. But it was my '86 GL wagon the first time and a '91 Legacy Wagon the second time. I'm sort of comparing apples and oranges there. But to be honest, I did not like being under the '86 trying to line up the transmission and getting it to slide onto the main shaft. If felt much easier (and safer) doing it with the engine on a hoist from above.
